Hakka 2's vs Hakka's RSi - Click HERE for Original Thread

K2`
hello

Well, i'm gonna look into getting winter tires since i'm moving more north for work. I've done some research and it seems that Nokian tires are superior. (according to my readings)

but anyways, which ones should i get? the hakka's 2 or the RSi's? i believe the 2's are studded, and the RSi's are not, but both are rated pretty good for winter. Does anybody have any experience with these tires? or does anybody think i should skip these tires and get something else?

any recommendations are appreciated.

btw, i drive a 03 Acura EL ... i believe tire size is 185/65R/15

Thanks!

studded are nice as long as you aren't on dry roads (they tend to be slick on dry roads)

i vote non-studded

never any problems

but now im selling them.. 4x114.3

how much? how much tread and stuff? I don't know what the offset is for my car.. so i don't know if they'll fit.

ya studded are slick on pavement but they own on any kind of snow/ice. i just put studded hakkas on my truck.

I work for Kal tire for the last 6 years & the best winter Tire I think are the Hakk 2( well best is there is ice roads. But if there is only snow, the RSI kick ass to....

Hope that helps...

Studded tires also make noise on dry pavement. It sounds like the sizzling sound that ordinary tires make when driving on rain-slicked roads.

I've got the studded 2's but I only run them on my rally car. Once the studs have been ripped out, I put them on my street car. Even without studs, they're still fantastic tires.

RSi's for sure, studded tires are really only good for ice imo. that will be the next tires to go on my beater.

Please realize though that the Hakkapeliitta 2 is discontinued, so if you were to suffer a loss of a tire due to an un-repairable flat, you won't be getting a new one.

The current top of the line tires from Nokian are the non-studable Hakkapeliitta RSi, and the studded Hakkepliitta 4 (also available in non-studded).

The RSi replaced the Q, and the 4 replaced the 2 (North American doesn't yet rate the Hakkapeliitta 5, which is available in Europe already).

I went with RSis on our Protege this winter, and have a set of studded 4s waiting for my new MX-5 when it arrives in December.

Sad thing for you though...is your timing, in that Kal-Tire's sale on Nokians ended on November 4th.

I found that the cheap walmart winter tires work good "winter mark" 400 bucks for all 4 installed not a bad deal if you ask me. And they are mudd/ snow and i know :D
Iv tested them through both and they came out 2 thumbs up!

ya. tires have a loud hum on dry pavement over 60km/h. under that and its not really noticeable. otherwise awesome traction, as long as the studs stay where they are supposed to ;)

I vote studded. They do make some noise, but they do not make the car more slick on dry roads. Have you guys ever actually owned a set of studded winters? First off, the tire is soft enough that the studs are simply pushed into the tire on dry roads, second, the studs are the outside of the tread, so they barely even touch bare pavement, and third....well winter tires are pretty slippery on dry pavement anyway.

Hakka 4 gets my vote...or Hakka 5 if you are elite enough to get them.

these things are virtually brand new.
check to see what your bolt pattern in..then we can talk

K2`
well.. assuming my funds go according to plan.. I am gonna go with the RSi's ... from everything I read, I prolly won't regret these.

Does anybody know where I can get cheaper steel rims? Kal Tire wants 75 for one.

Godzilla
find your bolt pattern and go to pick and pull, if the tires on the rims are still fine cut them up so that they don't charge you for the rims and tires.
