how come cops dont ticket people who dont clean off the snow from their windows.
i know tons of guys who got tix for tint b/c apparently it reduces visibility so why dont they ticket these people
everyday since its snowed ive seen a car with its back window and side windows covered in snow. what the hell is up with that |

Back window doesn't matter. Any windows beisde the driver and ahead should be clear of any obstructions, just like tint on those is illegal.
However, if snow is blowing off the car and obstructing the vision of other drivers, they should get a ticket.
Incidently, I've seen 4 people this week getting tickets for not clearing their cars of snow and frost.....so it happens. |

| When I got pulled over for my tint the cop said the reason why tint is illegal is because they cant see what you are doing inside, or if your driving without a seatbelt or somthing like that. |

I personally don't agree with this.
I don't see why people should have to agressively brush their entire car's surface right down to the paint, swirling and scratching the hell out of it in the process, in fear of a ticket just because people tend to follow vehicles too closely and don't a) maintain their windshield wipers, b) keep their washer fluid topped up. Besides any residual snow that blows off your average passenger car while moving would be a temporary effect at best. I think some people are overreacting to a supposed *problem* here.
I have never had a problem being blinded by any vehicles in front of me other than semis and ironically the snowplow/sanding trucks on the highway during whiteout conditions. |

| ^^^^^I agree, i never touch the paint on my Frontier unless its in the summer time when washing by hand. Even then i still go power wash it at the car wash to get rid of any dirt before i hand wash. |

Woah, who said anything about cleaning it down to the paint? Brush off the loose snow. The concern isn't the odd puff that comes off during normal driving, the concern the great whiteout that can be caused by the 3.5 feet of snow from your roof flying off at once.
And believe it or not, if you fail to take measure to ensure you aren't going to cause a hazard, such as reducing the visibility of other drivers, you are breaking the law. Don't be so lazy, give it a quick brush. |

Ok, our assumptions obviously came from opposite ends of the scale. When I first heard of this new bylaw (last year it came in?), I feared the worse case that we'd have to go nutso on cleaning every last speck of snow off our car just to appease some nazi-like bylaw ticket officers (similar to the sidewalk clearing issue), which may not be true. And you may have assumed that I do zero snow removal off my vehicles, which is also not true. |

this thread has gotten off topic
i wasnt talking about snow falling off of cars
im talking about people whose windows are covered in snow while driving ie so they cannot possibly see out of them. so if tint is illegal b/c cops cant see into your car then they sure as hell cant see into a car whose windows are completly covered in snow
for example i was driving behind a car last week and its back and side windows were covered in snow he couldnt see anything except what was right in front of him and he totally cut another car off. |

Yes, that's illegal. Back window doesn't matter. But any windows beside or in front of the driver must be clear. Unless he has no side mirrors, then he needs an obstructed view out the rear as well. |

i still think not having the back window cleared off should be illegal i mean seriuosly it takes like 2 sec to wipe it with your brush |

But it doesn't bother anyone, AND you can tint it all you want. Hell, you can't paint it completely opaque. So why should snow matter? |

even with limo tint u can still see out your rear window.
if its covered in snow u cannot see anything. so how would they back up ie once they park and they need to reverse how would they know if theres a car behind them backing up to. and even if u just use your rearview mirrors u still cant see everything when backing up.
this message is especially for the red camry in windsor carpark who almost backed into me this morning since his back window was covered in snow and he couldnt see me |

What about cargo vans and semi's no rear windows and they do just fine. If you have door mirrors on eitherside of your car you can paint yout rear window and can't get a ticket for it. |

My car at work has a giant kennel in the back, can't see a thing outside it. I manage just fine. |
