WARNING Southview Acura Service Department - Click HERE for Original Thread

JonJonPoPong
I bought my 05 TSX, my cousin bought his 05 TL Navi A spec and my uncle bought his daughter a 06 TSX from Southview Acura, experience with the sales department was excellent. I have had nothing but great things to say about southview up until today.

10 days ago I made a appointment for today at 8:30 am to get my car checked as the engine light was on. I asked the service manager to just hook it up to the machine and read the code so he could tell me how long my car would be there once the machine told him what the code is. He says he cant do that right away. I told him I have a 8:30 appointment to which he responded “so does everyone else here”
I find it a little odd to give people appointments all at the same time, but I trust his word at that point.
I wait around the dealership 9:30 comes by and my car is still sitting in the parking lot. I keep waiting and a guy in a TL pulls in and starts to wait next to me, around 10 30 I see that the guy with the TL is getting his car now worked on, my car is still sitting in the parking lot.
I ask the service manager how come my car is still in the parking lot he says 30-40 minutes and they will get around to it. I keep waiting and ask the guy with the TL what time he had a appointment for and he says 10am. Well mine was for 8:30 and my car is still in the parking lot. WHY? Now I am wondering if the other people I have been seeing getting work done before me if they really do have a 8:30 appointment.
I keep waiting and eventually at 11 30 they have finally gotten around to my car and the service manager says the code is for high air density most likely being caused by my CAI, in other words all they did was hook it up read the code and do no work.
Now the service manager wants $104 for the 2 minutes of their time and even though I had asked they do this 3 hours ago (at my scheduled time) they made me wait around.
Now if they had done this at the start I would have no problem, but after waiting 3 hours and seeing someone with a 10am appointment get serviced well before me even though mine was for 8:30 I am mad.
Not only did they waste 3 hours of my time, bump others with appointments AFTER me before me but now they want $104 on top of it.
I can understand the charge of $104 if I had been given service, but to pay for such horrible service is something I will not do.
I ask to speak to the manager and the service manager says he is in charge, I ask to speak to the owner and he says the owner will not be in till Monday.
I refused to pay and told them that they don’t have my signature releasing my vehicle into their custody they have no binding agreement.
The service manager then tells me to take my car and never come back, which I never would anyways.

You waste 3 hours of my time, you put other customers in front of me even though I had a appointment before them and made it 10 days in advance.
Not only has Southview lost my business from this day forward but the business of my friends and family and many more due to message boards.
Don’t piss on me and tell me its raining.

newaccorddriver
shitty deal man. i had appointments like yours, and cars behind mine were getting ahead of me.

you should understand that sometimes things arent how they seem to be. checking a code wont take more then a few minutes. usually they have to take care of another car first, and thats understandable. for them to make you wait 3 hours and let others in front of you isnt.

JonJonPoPong
Well i was patient and waited for the first hour but as i saw people pulling in and getting worked on and my car still sitting outside I only got more disapointed and angry.
The thing that really pissed me off though was the guy with the TL getting worked on after he had waited 20 minutes and I had been waiting 2 hours at that point, plus his apointment was 1 and a half hours after mine.
They not only wasted 3 hours of my time but they want $104 to do it.

You know I brought my wife's car to a Chrysler dealership for some engine noise, they didn't quite listen to what I was telling them, but blamed the noise on the CAI, and never tried to charge me a dime. I brought the car back cold(I towed it in on a dolly with my fifth) with the CAI taken off(used the cai filter onthe stock airbox) and they replaced the engine.....

Kinda gotta wonder... but I always insist I only want work that'll be covered by warranty done.

But I guess if you never signed the paper authorizing them to work on the car... they really can't bill you for it. And the waiting... I've shown up with an 8am appointment, and they do sometimes look at the "drop ins" that beat me there first, but normally my stuff is more complex and will take more time, rarely do I wait, unless they're just figuring out the problem.

I hate to say I told you so...

Take it to West Side. Nothing but good from them with my NSX.

Rabb
^ I have to agree with 95eagleawd.

I have the worst customer service with them when I was trying to buy my TSX !!

WEST SIDE IS AWESOME !! they would have given you a car if you have to wait that long ..

If you guys just want to hook up your comp to a computer and check your codes, run it by subracing and talk to Mark. He has a couple snap-on comps and I'm sure it will be cheaper than bringing it to the dealership.

JonJonPoPong
Yea guys I'll definetly be doing to west side acura from now on.
If I need a engin code read ill check out sub racen, thanks for the info on that one.

what might of been the issue is this:

The only mechanics that do the "machine hook ups" are the tune up guys at the dealership i worked at there were 2 tune up guys, 2 allingment guys, 1 electronic, 1 who specialized in remote starters, the aprentices, lube guys, and 3-4 who specialized in putting the train rail things on the trucks. So in this case if one of hte tune up guys were on holiday and you had the other guy falling behind on his work might result in a situation likes yours.

Nonetheless the service manager MAY have went out of his way to fit you in real quick, but thats asking for favours some people just don't give.

I wouldn't go back either though. If thier backed up id liek to atleast be told how long I am going to be waiting.

Oh, and becasue you were sitting there waiting, they must of put SOME kind of priority on your car.

Heh,

I take my car in the Southview.

Each time same routine. When I book I tell them I want a courtesy car, and they can have the car all day. I tell them that they should let me have the TL and to think of it as a extended test drive, who knows, maybe I would upgrade from my TSX to a TL.

Car is always ready when they say its going to be ready, and so far everything has been under warrantee.

No such problems from me?:dunno:

I took my car to Millwoods Honda (which I know firsthand is absolutely horrible at anything, they told me they didn't have equipment to change the tires on my STOCK rims) to get a code checked. I had no appointment, just walked in and asked how much it would cost. Guy said the first time is free, after that it's a diagnosing charge if you come back to check a code within the next 6 months and it turns out to be the same code, asked me to pull into the express lube bay, which was full, tech came, hooked up the computer, checked the code, cleared it and handed me a business card with my info then told me to back out and go so they fit another car in.

You got screwed my friend. I'd refuse to pay. And I'm sure once you speak to someone in power they'll agree.

the shouldnt have to put priority on his car if he made an appointment 10 days earlier for 8:30 am.........i could understand if he just showed up out of no where and asked them to check his car out....then yes it will take a long time and ppl with appointments will be 1st priority and your car will be second....but not in this case....anyways tough luck man.........and yes lie the otehrs i have heard nothing but great feedback of west side acura..

No matter who backed up the shops are? Hence why everyone is booking for 2-3 weeks ahead of time? If you had your car in the shop january 2nd and someone had an apointment january5th and your car still hasn't been done yet is it ok to put your car aside because someone had an apointment?

then why were they taking in ppls cars after his appointment in the same day.....clearly they werent that backed up......i could uynderstand if tehy were so backed up tehy werent taking anyones car but they were still fixing other ppls cars that were booked in after his......you say its unfair to put someones car aside becuase anotehr person had an appointment.....but liek i said before they were still taking in ppls cars....

Nis13
yes i understand but like i said in the previous post, the car they took in might have been going in for a remote car starter? winter tires? different section, different tech in the shop. The guys who are certified to do the code looking up and the tune up by computer ect. could have been backed up where as the tire tech or remote car starter tech could have pulled in 2-8 jobs that day.

SilviaDrifter
ahhhhhhhhh that makes sense now......i stand corrected....

:blue:

JonJonPoPong
They were not backed up though.
I went in on a thursday afternoon on the 9th of Nov, and the lady said they cant fit me in for saturday the 11th, however they can do me monday morning the 13th. I said no that wont work for me Ill take the 18th. So they could not have been busy if at the time I made my appointment they were only booking 2 days in advance.
So considering I made mine 10 days in advance, they should damn well have someone who can read a code there.

I can understand your logic Nis13 though, sadly logic isent something Southview's parts people deal in.

Nis13
yeah thumbs down to southview acura ive heard many bad stories from north west and south now.. maybe acura dealerships jsut aren't the best lol HONDA ftw:dunno:

95EagleAWD
^^

Agreed. I've heard great things about the Honda dealer in Morinville and was looking to take the NSX there for work, but they weren't open when I got there.

dc5spoon
southview sucks... i remember when i bought my car there brought it back cause they messed up the spoiler... the service manager at the time brian was understanding...then the owner dave comes in and tells me to get off his lot...

westside acura ftw
