**Wheel Lock Key** - Click HERE for Original Thread

mike3
Hey guys. I have a bit of a problem, When rebuilding my engine after everything was finished up and I tightened the wheels I started cleaning my garage and lost my wheel lock key. I cant get another one anywhere, and I cant break these ones off. I work at kal tire. These were purchased from kal tire about 2 years ago. Does anyone have the same wheel locks?? Could I borrow your key? Thanks

Hi Mike,

Sorry to hear of your troubbles.

There is a tool you can order out of the UK that is designed for memoving any wheel lock with out effort. It works great for those in your situation and also for those who are looking to get new wheels.

I do not remember the exact name, but you can purchase them in many sizes. You would need to know the size of the wheel lock.

How it works is that the inside of the remover is reverse threaded. As you turn to loosen it, it will bite in and grip on the lock turning it loose. Unfortunately your wheel locks are toast, but that should not be a problem since you can not find your key.

I will do some searching and find out more info for you.

Hope this helps,

Mike

You should be able to find that key @ kal tire. if not good luck!!!!

Go to a Economy Muffler, they will weld on nuts to them and take them off for $35.

I have all the tools from Snap-On to break off just about anyones wheel locks in the city, except mine. The hole for the nut is too small for any of those "sockets" to go on to. I tried ginding one down, and it fit in, and gripped, but when i went to loosen it the walls of the socket were too thing and it broke into a few pieces.
I worked at kal tire as of yesterday, and we wouldnt get a key from anywhere. I just contacted someone from the campany that i think made them, to see if they have any old ones left. As for going to economy muffler, Im in Vancouver right now. Thanks for the Help so far guys

That looks like something I *might* have in my tool kit.

I had to buy some special lugs with a special low-profile socket as the holes on my mags has very little clearance.

Your lugs looks wider than the key I have, but it may be worth a shot.

Pm me, let's hook up and try it. But I ain't coming down to Vancouver :p

Hey dildo, Jordan said he found my wheel lock key, so after I use it to get mine off this weekend, i'll get it to you. I took new wheel locks from work and took like 5 keys haha

4thGenLude
thanks alot mike that'd be appreciated..
it was lookin as though i was gunna have to drop the whole suspension or something or take off the caliper through the rim to get at the studs..or at least thats what tire warehouse told me..:dunno:

mike3

I'm out in V-City.

I had the same rims 2 years ago... and still use the same lock set from Kaltire.

Good to hear you found it.... lost mine for awhile too... scary haha:thumbup:

in the ghetto we usually just go one socket-size up and hammer the cocksucker on, and then "bust the nut off"so to speak... go buy as many sockets of that size as you need from a pawn shop and have at'er :dunno:

Im not sure if you looked at the picture but no socket is going to fit in there.

Dan_s_young
Well if you didn't find the lock key you could always use a air hammer to take them off. Someone who is skilled with a air hammer could do it without damaging the rim, but it can be risky.

lol..

You forgot to put the car on blocks and let the air out of the tires so you can pull them off once you have the nut off.

Then kick the car off the blocks:D

ahh to be 16 again.:(

elrhyso
yeah i saw the pic :dunno: and it is a pretty tight fit... your only other option in that case would welding nuts on... but you got the key, so it's all good right?

...and i'd be lying if i said i hadn't seen my fair share of cars with no tires lying on the frame :( lol... kinda makes me miss the northside

mike3
Yeah, I got the key now... I think anyone thats spent anytime on the northside has seen there share of cars on blocks haha
