Twin Turbo front clips - Click HERE for Original Thread

vorpalz
Hey all,

As winter has set in, so the little mental wheels start turning towards parts gathering.

Project: boost the NA 'vert.

Need: TT parts, preferably motor and assorted plumbing, wiring, oil cooler, A/C parts (yes, I know it's got a ragtop :p), fasteners, clutch fans, ECU, bits and bites, etc.

Rather than grab a few parts here and there (many of which I already have), the logical solution is an entire TT front clip, many of which are available in the US . However, shipping is killer, so a Canadian solution would be ideal.

Hmmm any suggestions?

MixManMash
I take it you are planning on an all out VG30DETT swap instead of boosting the VG30DE.

A little expensive, but Autodream JDM VG30DETT or VG30DETT at JDM source or Japan Power or everybody's favourite (lol) Ebay or JDM Racing Motors

Are you planning on keeping the auto or converting to a 5 spd?

Have you got a TT front fascia?

vorpalz
Hey Mash,

Thanks for the links, I was going to call Autodream anyway. I got an extra NA fascia from Gord, I may try to mod it, or just go with a tt one.

I was really hoping for a complete front clip, as all the pieces would be where I need them.

I will keep the auto for now, although if the clip came with a 5 speed, I'd keep it.

Still in the research phase.

Regards,

~30oZ~
If you want a TT facia I'm going to be selling mine, but It won't be till summer.:dunno: if you can wait I'll give it to you for free as kind of thank you for all your help on my Z...and all the future help to come lol:D

Hey Rob,

Not sure where you would get a front clip from, but I agree that it would be the best way to go as you get all the little fiddly bits needed for TT swap. I wonder if any of these JDM motor dealers know where to get one from. The only difficulty I forsee is the ECU as you will need a TT auto ECU if you are going to keep the auto. Are there any differences in the auto tranny from the TT to the NA? I know the differential is different.

Cause the clip should be cheaper. ;)

I know that, Captain Obvious. I was kidding, mostly. But with the level of "cheap" that entire cars are being imported at, the difference might not be all that much.

Well if it was that obvious, why did you have to state it? :stickpoke

Just bugging you. I guess, if one could find one of those "cheap" cars that runs fine it could be a good candidate for a swap. As long as it runs, who cares if it looks like crap (paint faded, etc, etc). Probably hard to find one that runs fine though.

well, 8-10 large for a RHD import vs. $ 2800 US plus freight for a clip from Coz, still a pretty large dif. Talking to my trucker buddy who travels to the US a lot, he might be able to work a freight deal.

I've called the local salvage yards and put them on alert should a RHD find it's way there as well. No rush...

No problem with that %98 of the JDM $H(t is auto anyway. Front clip is a good way of going Rob.

Just be patient on of those kiddies who just bought his/her JDM Z, will be sure to crash it this winter. Since the Z car is so @ss happy he/she will probably back it in to a light pole.

That reminds me, talk to Reg at Sumaru's he might have a front clip for you as we speak. If you do talk to him be prepared to be overcharged:p

Cheers,

Good point. Forgot that most of the JDMs coming over are Auto.

That would be sweet if it is in town. At least it would save the cost of shipping / duty / customs if it is.

I would also talk to Autodream or JDMSource as they are out of Alberta. Might also be a good idea to talk to the guys at Ztune.ca out of BC. At least they might be able to point you in the right direction.

not saying anything poorly about ztune. So don't take the post that way pls.

However, i asked them for a quote for the 120000mile timing belt kit with upgraded lower crank pulley.. their quote was roughly $350 more than anything offered in the states, that includes exchange rate, shipping, duty. End of the day.

I got the parts for just over $350 less from somewhere else.

they didnt seem interested in matching the price. If it had been <$50 difference i would have bought from the canadian company.

just some general info.

Captain Obvious would say: "Coz is still THE MAN".

And I'd have to agree. :D

I'll 2nd that. And his shipping practices are great! You get good products, at a great price, and in you hands within a week and half if shipped by ground.
