Lol. With all this talk of re-labelling 300ZX & 350Z to FairladyZ, G35s to Skylines, I've been doing some research about my daily driver (Mazda Protege).
Apparently, they were sold in Japan as the Mazda Familia and in Taiwan as the Ford Tierra .

However, instead of the simple Label swap, how about getting all the Ford Tierra bits and doing a conversion? lol. just j/king. Can you tell it's a slow day and I'm bored? |

Toyota Cavaliers... Why oh why would Toyota sell those cars under their label in Japan? Oh well, I guess it's something they had to do to have GM sell the Pontiac Vibe (Toyota Matrix) and the Geo Prism (Toyota Corolla).
I guess the Fairlady is one of those names you will only see in the Japanese market for obvious reasons. It's just not macho enough for most westerners...
But I mean come on, how about the Ford Tierra or the Mazda Familia? lol. :D |

I have to disagree. But admittedly we're arguing semantics.
All of the Zs, the whole line since the '70 240Z, have always been "Fairlady Z's". The north american market just never badged them as such. Doesn't change what the car IS though.
240Z/260Z/280Z/280ZX/300ZX/350Z = Fairlady Z, period.
To say "no no my car isn't a 300ZX, its a Fairlady Z" (or vice versa)... is just retarded, IMO.
But anyway, I agree with Edwin and would never put the decal on the back of my car. |
