Need new battery asap! - Click HERE for Original Thread

doanster
So it turns out that my battery is too weak in this cold weather to crank the starter... I've had to boost it more than once already ever since the temperature dropped :(

Any suggestions on where I can get a decent battery for a decent price? (it's to go into a 98 Civic Si)

Thanks!

Costco's house brand is good value for the money.

I see your location is the west end. I'm off work 2:30 Saturday and 3:00 Sunday. If you want to meet me at the West End costco (I work right next door) at either of those times I can go in with you to buy it (Using my membership).

Other than that - Canadian Tire (Motomaster) and Walmart (Energizer) have good batteries. I think Walmart is usually a little cheaper than CT.

So it turns out that there's actually nothing wrong with my battery... my sub amp was draining the battery even when it was off. I hooked up a switch to the power line and seems to have solved the problem for now.

Does Cosco still sell those red-top Optima batteries?? I could really use one of those :blue:

Costco and Walmart both sell the Optima's. I do not know which one is cheaper though.

Your amp shouldn't be switched on when the car is off. Double check that your amp switch wire from the deck isn't getting constant power when the car is off.

I have always had good luck with Rocky's batteries in my daily drivers.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. The amp should be off, or it seems like it since the power indicator lights are off. Probably some leakage currents or somethin, not sure. It's a RF P3001 mono amp. :dunno:

Their house brand is Kirkland.

And you must be blind, or they're out of stock as I've seen the redtops at that location before ;)

I work at the 50 ST Costco, and I know we've had a bunch of batteries out of stock for awhile, with that cold weather in early Nov. we sold every battery we had...cant keep them in stock.

they're good value, and just keep the receipt and you can return it no questions asked...

Go with someone with a card and you can shop there...people do it all the time.

Or you can call and ask them to check the stock quantity if you dont want to drive there for nothing.
