Great movie. 3.5/4. Mel Gibson seems to want to gain the reputation of a bad motherfucker, so far he's succeeding. There is some seriously crazy shit in this movie. The soundtrack is perfect. Acting is ridiculously well done since there isnt a single big name attached to it, which is the only way this movie could work. The camera work is unreal.

Hmmm...and I had pretty much sworn there was no way in hell I'd watch a movie that looked so gay in the trailers until I read your review...

Just a note though, it is all in subtitles as they are speaking ancient mayan. For me it just added to the movies credibility, but some ppl dont like subtitles.

I totally reccomend this movie, its a great experience. If ppl sitting around you are talking tell them to shut the fuck up b.c nothing will ruin it more than someone not letting you get sucked into the movie.

I was kinda wondering how this movie would be, mostly cuz I didn't know what the fuck it was about lol.

Gibson may hate Jews but he surely knows how to make movies. Can't wait to go see it.

Saw it, hated it. So boring, way too long. The last 30 mins wasn't bad...

I loved it, but I love history.

I love history too. But a fictional story that takes place in the past, involves a lot of boring, pointless scenes (the walks through the jungle as prisoners didn't contribute at all, it was a waste of time, and the whole scene with the cliff edge was utterly pointless) and an extremely predictible ending (who honestly didn't know what to expect on the beach?) is hardly my idea of a good movie.

There were 1 or 2 good scenes. The rest was just crap.

Hi Orzel_pl,

Thanks for the review. I watched it this past weekend. I enjoyed it. I had the opprotunity to visit the Rivera Maya in April for two weeks. I went on quite a few tours. I think the tours helped my understanding of the movie and to understand the importance of many of the symbols used in the movie. Ie) The Jaguar and the Snake to name a few. I found the movie to follow closely to the end of the Mayan Civilization. It was interesting to see how the movie was showing the end or should I say the assimilation of each tribe and great civilization to a greater or more agressive civilization. I was hoping to view a Mayan Ball game in the movie. At the end the winning team's Captain is sacraficed to one of their Gods and it is considered an honour to win.

I find the Mayan culture to be very interesting. They were extremely advanced for their time. If you are ever in Mexico, I strongly suggest you go on a tour of the Mayan Ruins. It is astounding what you will learn, how advanced they were, and how precise everything was with out the use of todays computers and technology.

For those that know the history, the ending is not a suprise. Threre were some dull parts as with any movie.

I give it an 8 decapitated heads rolling down the temple stairs out of 10.

Mike

Great Movie, 9.5/10 for sure, I don't agree about the camera work though...Half the time it was all blair witch style for fuck sakes lol.
