cheaper..yes, better, not even close. Spend the extra money and get the better engine, which will most likely have more power anyway. Not to mention Jason doing the install and the extras that come with it. If I didn't already have him put in a b16 in my civic he'd be putting that engine in.

B16 from jdm source 3000, b18 from jason 3500 with install and extras...tell me thats not a deal.

When you blow up your d-series engine (which most do) you'll want to upgrade it anyways.

My advice is start with a better platform, higher entry cost but way better pay offs.

Good luck either way..

Are you even a Honda guy??

Anyway.. Jason's B18C1 WOULD be a good deal.. But A d-series could walk on that for half the cost.. Trust me. :p

B18C5's are 210hp at the crank.. so.. just say 170whp.
and what.. 120 torque? or 130??

Yeah.. A Turbo D-Series Is Reliable, When It's Tuned Properly.. Which is a Mistake LOTS Of people make.

A Friend of Mine Made 158whp and 150wtq on a D-series.. and Whooped Most things on the road.

Yeah a B18C5 Might be a better platform in the longrun.. but Most bang for Buck Is D-series.. I'll prove that to you this summer when My next kit is complete.. and when a few others are done aswell.

Turbo D-Series Is Plenty.. 150WHP +/- 10whp and 150WTQ +/- 10wtq.. is Lots.. and VERY noticeable Comming from a stock D-series.

It's mostly in the tune if your shit blows up or not.

trevor...you've lost it my man
b18c5's put out 195hp not 210, what im questioning is where the b18c5 even came from...jason is selling a b18c1

IMO the b18c1 is one of the best engines you can start off with. you can go with a strong n/a engine with it or you can turbo it very easily. obviously a better starting point will equal more power in the end. so you have to think of it for the long run

d-series and b-series both have their up's and down's. b-series is obviously quicker out of the box and theres about 10 times more aftermarket for it. where as d-series are expendable and parts for them are cheaper than trevor's mom. the battle between d-series and b-series is endless and it will never end

think of what you want in the long run once again. a stock d-series block is supposely only able to handle 250hp. where the b-series supposely can take 300hp and be as reliable as stock

No I'm not a honda guy, I'm a mazda guy, but what does it matter, engines are engines...

A d-series could walk on it if it were boosted (and the b18 was stock), but guess which engine is gonna blow first (and alot sooner most likely)? Guess with one is going to give you more issues, grief, headaches...

And ya alot of ppl don't tune them right and they blow and what makes you think he is any different?

150whp/wtq is fuck all for a boosted car..

W/e that deal is a good one and opting for a boosted d-series over it is silly, unless you don't have the money then its completely understandable.

Think of it like dating...You don't start with a fucking sheep do you?...Do you?? lol

On a serious note; if he has the money or can loan a small amount to cover it, it would be well worth it over testing the strength of his d block.

I have to say that i have driven turbo d- series, and my type r swap in my DA, and i love the feel of mine way more, they just aren't as much fun as NA b- series. My 2 cents

Yeah.. I'm going to stop the arguement and Say it's prefrence..

Myself I, STRONGLY, Believe in the D-Series..

And I like the turbo lag.. and the smack in the face of power..

Sure the power only came from the turbo.. but who cares.. It's still making the power..

and D's will hold up to 230whp.. some say 250-260whp..

and it'll make nearly just as much torque.. so.. It's badass.

but a Boosted B is a little more badass.. I'll admit they are a better platform.. But I like the D-series.. Cheap, and easy to replace if anything breaks..
