We should name some good mechanics and give the good guys the business.
Personally, I've had nothing but good experiences at:
Mechanical work:
* Toy Tech - 9916-72 Ave. Brought my hilux there and they were completely honest with everything. Even threw me a deal on top of everything given the amount of business I gave them. Ted and Dean are tops in my books. Toyota and Honda Specialists.
* Auto Infinity & Tire Depot - 10620 - 98 stret: Honestly, you would think twice about this place just passing by cause it doesn't look like anything special, however, Walter knows his stuff and is just as competant as the guys at Toy Tech. I once took my pathfinder to the stealership and they said that I had to replace my pads for $600. I brought it over to Auto Infinity cause I know they charge less per hour and after Walter looked at it he said come back in like 6 months as my pads had about 40% left on them and there was no need to change them. Specialize in all Japanese vehicles.
For oil change:
* Millwoods Honda: Note! I bring my own oil and filters to them and it only costs $20 for them to change your oil with your own oil and filter. Great price, imo. Pretty hard to fuck up an oil change imo.
Auto body: R&S Collision: Every auto body fix I needed, this place was top notch. Not the place to bring your lambourghini, but fantastic for the average consumer. Dayton will tell you anything your car needs. They sell you nothing you don't need.
Anybody else? |

In calgary I always take my car to A1 autobody for any mechanical/ bodywork needs. My uncle is a mechanic there and it is always done right the first time. They dont gouge you either. Im pretty sure they are the largest honda autobody repair shop in alberta.
They sure get alot of wrecked civics but i dont really know why?
As for oil changes I goto minute lube. I pay for the oil there, in total with oil change and filters, it works out to about 40 dollars which isnt that bad. It is always very quick aswell aslong as there isnt a big line up outside. |

| I was pretty happy with the guys at Tire Warehouse on 99st and 47ave. I took my car there with 3 bolts that were broken off in the block from the exaust manifold and they only charged me an hours worth of labour. I'm not sure the guys name but he's an older guy and he's very nice and gave me the best customer service I've seen in a long time. |

Yeah, the Tire Warehouse on the south-side is GREAT Just stay away from the dumb-fucks at Tire Warehouse on the west-side. Alot of problems there. |

i had a bad experience at toy tech...
they wanted to charge me $2000 for a used head. You can get a whole engine for $1000. After I brought in my own head, they quoted an additional 14 hours work to install it, even though thay had taken apart lots of my engine already, for which i had paid $1200 bucks for already.
..then they started going on about how I should replace this and that at $100 here and $200 there.
...complete bullshit. "Oh, you don't want us to continue on at these outrageous rates? Here's all the parts we stripped out of your engine bay in a box in the trunk." |

| i had both my cars(honda's) inspected, and a full coolant change/flush/thermostat replaced at thrifty/speedy auto repair. they didnt try to sell me anything i didnt need, nor did anything i didnt ask for. the price is what you expect it to be, not padded up with the additional crap that some business like to do. i deal with mike there, great guy... loves his honda's:thumbup: |

yep. I'll show you my receipt. well, I remember that it's $25+tax with your own oil and no filter... I'm like 99.99% sure that it's $20+tax with your own oil filter and oil.
that's the only place I ever get my oil changed. they also check your tire pressure too and fluids to boot and and tell you if you're low.
wrth $20 imo. |

My experience: They were open and honest, never did any work without asking first, and did overall very good work for me.
I can't comment on your experience, but I have been there at least 4 times and they were nothing but professional each time. |

I brought a set of 4 rims and 4 tires into that shop for repair. I thought that they were all just leaking beads. One of the tires in particular was leaking REALLY badly and I asked them to check that tire first.
I went on my merry way to work, and when I returned to pick up my rims and tires, I was handed a bill for $80-something dollars, and told that they were unable to fix one tire.
One of the tires had a damaged sidewall and could not be fixed, they also informed me that they could not locate a replacement tire anywhere in Canada.
The tire that was un-fixable was the one I asked them to look at first.
I told them, if you looked at this one first, and it was UN-FIXABLE and you could not even locate me a replacement... Why would you even bother fixing the other 3? I can't drive my fucking car on 3 wheels.
What really pissed me off, is that they didn't even stop to call me first and ask whether or not they should continue with repairs on the other 3.
I would have said no.
In the end, I made a big stink and they waived the bill, but then they forgot to give me back my chrome valve stem covers.
Fuckers. |

| On a more positive note, Al Sweet, owner of the Petro-Canada Certi-Gaurd repair shop on St. Albert Trail (On the left corner just before you go down that big hill) has done friggin' AWESOME work for me over the years, and his pricing is VERY fair. |
