Pics of my Car

New to the site as some of you know feedbacks' appreciated....

btw i am aware it is not a common vehicle to work on but in my opinion neither are cavs, or sunfires, but people do it anyways lol
cya around:thumbup:

I've driven your car, haha.

Does it really have a turbo and a cold air intake?

I dont think you have driven my car, or perhaps id remember that but yes i do have the cold air and turbo for the car. (obviously dosent make a huge differance) but it makes a little

baker_jeff
Is the turbo installed? 9psi on a decent turbo should give you more than 150hp... isnt it 130hp stock?

BigDaddyLeo
No the turbo is not installed i dont have an intercooler system for it yet, i get the 20 hp from my cold air and chip. With the turbo installed it should raise the hp dramaticly but i havent found that out yet.

SilviaDrifter
good luck trying to find a turbo manifold.......and ur gonna need new injectors....fuel pump....wastegate....its not jus as easy as bolting up a turbo

jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze man its not a yaris its a dam echo lol dont get it wrong

Ramjet
The possibilities are there. The car weighs in at less than 2000 lbs, and the Greddy Turbo kit is available complete with everything needed:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GRed...8QQcmdZViewItem

150 to 180 WHP is what has been reported - not bad for a car that weighs under a ton. Just ask any of the CRX guys out there!

I agree, though, that claiming that the car has a turbo and a cold air intake is not fair game until AFTER it is installed!

fartcannon
you would have been better off with a crx they at least dont look fruity

Ramjet
Looks are not everything - hey - I drive a Suzuki Aerio! In a world of unconstrained choices, a CRX would be the better option, but then a Lotus 7 or Europa would be better still.

The Echo provides a lightweight, modern chassis with Toyota reliability and seating for four. If one were faced with needing a newer economy car, but wanted to have some fun with it, the Echo hatch or Yaris would be a fair starting point. Aftermarket support exists, there is a spec racing series (back east, anyway), and they are WAY lighter than the alternatives from Honda (Fit) and Nissan (Versa).

Plus there is the added bonus of EVERYONE underestimating your ride, then blowing their doors off with a "fruity" looking car!

LOL i don't think he will be "blowing my doors off". even if he was turbo'd and was running nazzzzzzzz.

Ramjet
HE won't, but SOMEONE might!

Latest Echo/Yaris/xA/xB performance mod - swapping a 2zz-ge engine in. Lower weight AND more power!

I keep thier name on my cardomain for the sheer fact that if u go too google.ca and look up karbz performance my car is the first thing that comes up. For those of u that hate my car, hate away. I love it its got balls for an economical car, its roomy, and handles great.

The way i see it, id rather have a car thats unique than over done. As for the Yaris, vitz, echo comments, it is an Echo, with Vitz parts and styling "Convertion" Love it or hate it, dont matter to me :)

As for Spotlight... wtf whos idea was that?

rythex
Did you actually install the turbo? If not, for the love of god, take "greddy 9 psi turbo" off your list of mods, i'ts not a mod until you actually have it bolted on and working...

ughghhhhhh what a try hard :P

BigDaddyLeo
See you two are typical. before you comment post "your" ride.. then maybe i'll acknowledge your coments.
:asshole:

rythex
My car is about 287hp at the crank and my wheels/tires new were probably worth 1/4 of your original sticker price..

Anyways, until you actually bolt that turbo onto your Echo, that's all it is, is an ECHO and you're acting like a tool by posting you have a 9psi turbo when it's sitting in a box and not under your hood.

You just make yourself look like a tool when you say it's turbo'ed.

BigDaddyLeo
Read the whole forum. Clearly states the turbo is not installed. And if you are right and payed as much as you did for your tires and car you could have gotten alot more for your $.

rythex
Yes, I read your post, go edit your first one and remove

"Performance Mods
Greddy 9psi turbo"

It irritates me. Thanks..

BigDaddyLeo
Aww muffin, if its irritating you i should do everything in my power to help you feel better... blow me deal with it.:asshole:

rythex
Ok, Mr Greddy-9-psi-Turbo-in-a-box......

You should go buy a 2JZ-GTE engine too and leave that in a box then you can say you have an engine swap with your greddy 9psi turbo!

That'll be pimp

BigDaddyLeo
Im sorry so what do you drive again? all i got was 287hp at the crank but no car just a figure. And if u do have your car at that, u should post pics in the members rides. Would be nice to see.

BOOOOOO!!!!!

Crank HP is gay and means nothing

dont post anything if it isnt wheel horsepower

rythex
I wasn't bragging, he asked me what I had. It's about 240 at the wheels <shrug> it's not bad for a $20,000 car.

But I was planning on buying a APS twin turbo and putting it in the back hatch and writing 8 psi on the cardboard box it'll sit in.

That'll be good for at least 450whp if I decide to install it

And I said 287 at the crank cuz I know that's what it is stock.. It might be higher since I added a sticker and a turbonator... and I'm planning on putting on a JDM nametag for even faster spooling.

SilviaDrifter
hahaahah sall good man.....i jus dont liek when crank numbers are posted hahah

Shox
PSI level doesn't mean anything... You can have a GT25R turbo at 20psi and run a GT3581R 10psi and make the same power. Big turbo, small boost, more power. It's pointless to relate to PSI to power, the only thing psi is good for so you can watch your boost gauge and make sure it doesn't go past what it is tuned to or have a ecu cut at certain boost level. In general average 1 psi could make from 10-20whp it's just a number that doesn't mean anything but what air that turbo can push at a certain set level.

rythex
Thanks for the turbo lesson, I think the more important fact of the matter is that the turbo first needs to be actually connected to the car in some way also to have any effect at all..

BigDaddyLeo
Congragulations rythex, you've managed to post the same post in differant variations about 12 times , i know what psi is, thats what the car was going to be running. if i was to go higher than 9 at the time id blow everything to kingdom come
Stage-3 Turbo T3/T4 Compressor
3" Inlet Diameter ad 2"Outlet
Wet Float Bearing
1/8 NPT Oil Inlet
.50 A/R Compressor
.63 A/R Turbine
.57 Compressor Wheel Trim.
35PSI of Peak Boost

If you knew what PSI was you wouldn't of wrote " higher than 9 at the time id blow everything to kingdom come" It should of been something like "if I push it past 350whp it will come apart."

BigDaddyLeo
Man if my car was even capable of pushing 350whp then i wouldnt worry. even if running my turbo at 9psi it's still only approx 220whp. If i ran a higher pressure my welds on my intake would blow, i dunno if you've ever checked for echo turbo manifolds but not exactly easy to find.

kornsined
There's no way in hell that echo is gonna make 220whp on stock internals. I can't see Greddy putting any bigger then their t517z turbo in a kit for that engine.

That engine would shit with a T3/T4 at 9psi.

Shox
I was just making a point when I said 350whp, I didn't mean anything by it.

BigDaddyLeo
The Turbo i just posted is made for the 1.5L VVT-I with stock internals, with the exception of the turbo manifold. Of corse you'd have to get the other pieces like wastegate, downpipes, bov, etc, but the turbo itself was made for the stock engine. as for the "There's no way an echo is going to make 220whp on stock internals", ur actually wrong, there are many echos, vitz, yaris, platz, xa,xb, t-sports pushing 220whp and more off stock internals.

rythex
Wow, you cited the stats of the turbo.. was that written on the box the turbo is sitting in?

BigDaddyLeo
Actually no it's written on the specs sheet, that came in the box with the turbo:thumbup:

lol, just leave Bigdaddy alone. He likes his car a lot and likes to tune it... why hate him for that? He bought what he wanted and is modding and customizing it to his liking. It may not be the most expensive or the fastest, but he enjoys it!

At the end of the day just chill and have a beer. The people are what make a tuner scene what it is- don't turn him away with such comments.

rythex
Yeah, leave him alone.. he just needs a harness adapter for the box his turbo is sitting in, then he can tune it finally!

BigDaddyLeo
no worries guys, cars being scrapped. Pulling everything off it that i can, and going to be sold.

rythex
dibs on a turbo in a box.

BigDaddyLeo
wow rythex you are truely a douche.

omniman69
man don't let these jagoffs get to u, i get flack for building a 84 daytona, and my lincoln. some guys just have no idea when it comes to a persons vehicle preferences.

i just see it as a reason to finish the car, use their hate as a motivational tool.

mike

rythex
Lol, nowhere in my thread did I say his car was a piece of shit, echos are fun little cars.

I was poking fun at the fact he was claiming it was force fed when it's not.

        :drama:

BigDaddyLeo
Either way the cars not going to be finished i cant afford to tune 2 cars. Echo 120hp- 280hp would cost an arm and a leg so not even worth bringing it to that level. It's a comuter till its sold now.

BigDaddyLeo
just to sit at 150hp cost me just under 1000.00. if it was just an engine case would be beter but the echos wernt designed to handle properly with more power than that.

kornsined

really??? I though you said it could handle 220whp easily on stock internals??

Anyways, what's the new ride?

BigDaddyLeo
It could but dosent meen i can afford to do it :( either way, Me and my wife are looking at some GT-R's , we got a private importer, we just need to sell her sunfire first, the echo is just flamed so i figured screw it let someone else enjoy it, It's lost it appeal to me now, got tired of trying to defend it.

kornsined
Well it's never gonna get cheaper. As the old cliche goes, "Cheap, reliable, and fast. Pick two."

Skyline is a great platform but will still be expensive IMO.

BigDaddyLeo
Yeah not much cheaper at all, jdm parts are rediculously expencive, however at least the car as is has almost double the power of my echo, took forever to convince the wife and shes still unsure about it. (she dosent know what a skyline is). If anyone has one and going out to a meet can ya let me know, i'll bring my wife out and she can see tham first hand.

there's usually a few of us out at the meets with them. just swing by.

BigDaddyLeo
will for sure this week im a little tied up with our move to castledowns and our car sales, but next week for sure.

Fazda
i dont think i have ever seen so much bashing in a thread since i was bashing civics. lol which i no longer do. cuz there are some nice ones out there. as for your car. i think doing what u want with it is fine. not everyone can drive a skyline these days. although they are almost as common as civics and cavaliers these days. something different is always fun. even if it is a little 1.5L. i'd say go for it if u could. sure ppl will make fun of you and there will be some that like it. problem not the best choice for wanting to make it a performance car though.

BigDaddyLeo
Yeah, never wanted a performance car, just something fun to drive, like my first post sais, "not a race car" I cant afford to speed with my family, skyline will most likely stay stock till i get bored of it :P

rythex
I hear skylines have turbos actually mounted under the hood and not in a box.

edit: lol, k I got it out of my system hehehe

02/06civiccoupe
maybe i can take the heat away, when i make it to a meet in my ricey '02 civic with the blue graphics, or my near stock '06 civic.
:D

BigDaddyLeo
Civics are actually pretty common here, i hope you have a fun time at the meet.

luder
Did 780 tuners force someone to sell their car due to online bashing? We've reached a new low.

All of you hating on the car are loosers. Check out the Vitz series in japan. Good, fun affordable racing.

Bet the guy in his 88 corsica has his own one make race series.

BigDaddyLeo
No one forced me to sell it, these guys just put out thier opinions, just let me tal\ke a closer look at what people really think.

GT34
Wow, what a pathetic bunch of haters. Although I don't agree on the whole posting about having a turbo that's not even on yet, I still admire how people chooose unique cars to mod. I parked beside it last night at the meet and all I can say was it was very well done. It was nice and clean and not ricey at all. But I'm sure you didn't have a problem with people comming up to your face and telling you what a joke your car was at the meet.

BigDaddyLeo
Actually i was suprised, no one did. The meet was great, deffinatly going to be doing it again.

kiew118
I have the same car, same color.(My gf's car)

We are slowly doing up right now.

Just to let u know, u are not the only one that is modin the echo.

BigDaddyLeo
I know ive seen u around, u got the same kit as i did, u even go tsimilar decals that were along my door, thats why i took them off, the only differances between them visually are the rally style wing u have, my rims, and my window tint, Really took the "Unique" value out of the car

BigDaddyLeo
but i could have saved u the time, im selling mine. then u dont have to shave your hood, aluminize your rs emblem drop your car, or change out your stock airbox, or ecu..

kiew118
ahah
I am not going too crazy for this car.
I will only do minor mod(exterior mod)

Carbon front Lip(Revcompetetion)
Wheel(not sure what color , iwant to go)
JDM Vitz RS rear spoiler
Toyota Scion(Front lower tie bar)
JDM toyota Vitz visor
TRD front upper strut bar
Blitz intake
Borla rear bolt on exhaust

Like I am saying , it is being done very slowly.

Actually looking at your mods, ... i liked my car... haha check out Reactive for the upper strut bar, imo its much better than the trd one, and so your losing the rally style wing and going for the rs one, so like i was saying if u wanna buy my car ;). the borla exhaust is nice, but i dont know how i feel about the 2pipes in the center. hope you enjoy your car (gf's car) cause be prepared for attention, and lots of it. good and bad. Good luck with your project.
