Definition of Rice - Click HERE for Original Thread

I keep hearing rice is this, rice is that. According to the origins or rice (Bryan Kwan) Rice is fake mods, like a fake intercooler or a fake typeR.
but now everytime a civic rolls by with a body kit and huge spoiler, people call it Rice. Why? For all we know he could have a Supercharger under the hood. So what is rice?

for me.. its any car that is done up so wildly.. that's what i consider rice. rice typically to me is an ugly overdone car.
Subtle is the best way to go.. not in your face rice!
Just my opinion.

GirlRacer P1
I second that Genki.

LoCoStyLe
Rice isn't functional. Fake disc brakes, bov speakers etc.
For me, a wild looking car isn't rice if it has something to back up the looks. Unfortunately, most wild looking cars have no dash to back up the flash.

HondaDude
why they come up with the word rice?? any particular reason..

TurboBlueNX
I don't know who really started it all, but Rice is pretty much what LoCoStyLe put it.
Looks fast and that's all.
Here would be the foremost authority on the topic:
www.riceboypage.com
I guess it would be similar to the Lowrider culture, in that it just goes beyond ridiculous, and not fast. Purely form over function.

Hmm i'd still say it looks like rice... i dont care how fast it is.. It doesnt have to look ricey at the same time.. Like u really need all that body work or clear lights.. or annoying exhaust to go fast?

i agree... a car thats all show is ricey. cars with wild body kits, oversized spoilers, loud exhaust, decals everywhere, etc. but no performance.

Yeah but that's not rice according to the Rice boy pages. Rice is when you make your 318 into a M3 with badges. Just because some guy puts a wild body kit on doesnt mean its rice.
i agree... a car thats all show is ricey. _cars with wild body kits, oversized spoilers, loud exhaust, decals everywhere, etc. but no performance.
Hey Mark,
Why don't you give a "Riceboy" award at V8less. Like to the guy who's all show no go?
I don't think most poeple will be offended.
