Ok, guys, I need to sell my 1985 Buick Skyhawk ASAP. Here is the deal.. it's a 4 cyl, auto, has 204,000 km on it and I've had it for around 7 years.
Why do you want this car? Because it's $700 and will pass a safety inspection with out any work... and has a CD player!
Little history of the car over the last few months... One day in November I was driving on the street and a guy pulled out of an alley infront of me. I hit him, lightly, and the car's left fender got a bit munched (see pic). His insurance wrote my car off and I kept it. The car had a "Written off" title. Come April 1st, I had to renew the registration. To do this on a written off car you have to have the car pass a stringent saftety inspection so that the car can be registered again (a way to keep beaters off the road). This inspection is taken very seriously and is much more thorough than your typical insurance inspection. It's more like an out of province inspection. In order to pass the car, I had to redo the front brakes, a CV boot, and put on a new exhaust (back half). That was all done and the car is now registered.
My point is, that the car will pass a safety no problem. When you buy a cheap car like this, you can't ask for anything more. Nuff said.
Anyway, I want to keep a policy of full disclosure regarding the condition of the car.
Pros:
- needs no work to be pass inspections
- good on gas
- CD player with good speakers
- lots or rubber
Cons:
- leaks oil quite a bit, out of a variety of places
- has a stumble at 10% throttle (clogged injector maybe)
- pretty damn rusty
- trunk doesn't lock due to break in damage, but still latches and opens with a key
7 bills is the price, no hagling, it's worth it. You can pick it up tomorow, or as soon as Sunday evening (in Calgary this weekend). Chris- 490-8393

Ok Conroy...
How about you buy the car from me for $300 (no stereo), throw in the safety gear, and let me run it once this summer (assuming it lasts that long :P )
That way we all win. You get a solid oval tracker for cheap, some nice mags... and most importantly... THE LEGEND LIVES ON!!! |
