| i drive an automatic 91 integra. it goes into drive and reverse ok. the only problem i have is goin into park. it takes about 10 seconds to get into park and have the light go on the dash. i've had a couple moments when it first started happening, that i've turned off the car and i couldn't get my key out...i had to wait a few mins. to get the key out after. anyone know what it could be. tranny issues???thanks in advance... |

| I'm not familiar with the auto version, but sounds to me as if you are having linkage problems. Perhaps the shifter cable(if applicable) is causing the problem. Did this problem begin during the cold snap? That's typical of cable/linkage problems or maybe your shifter connection on the transmission is coming loose or a bushing is going. Best bet is to take it in for a free check somewhere. |

Well I went looking thru the books and under the trouble shooting section this is what it say's.
Shift cable broken/out of adjustment.
Joint in shift cable and transmisson or body worn.
Parking mechanism defective.
I would say look at your adjustment first and see if it's out a bit of just needs to be better set, I looked thru all the honda books and it's exactly the same for all models and same picture too.
This is for a 98 teg but the old 88 lude civic and your year of teg is the same picture as this.
Edit this is froma 93 teg..same as rest
If you need any more details on how to do this I can get you some more tech pic's and walk your thru each step I've even got 89 teg auto here so I can look at for myself if need be. |
