Hi, I'm new here - Click HERE for Original Thread

crzyone
Hello there, a buddy of mine linked me to this site and it looks pretty good so far. I'm from Whitecourt, 1.5 hours West of Edmonton. I have a few cars worth mentioning, a 1990 Skyline GTR and a 1986 Fiero GT.

I bought the Skyline from 4Kruzn in October and it has been a great car. Its fun to drive and I have some big plans for it in the near future.

The fiero is far from stock, I have swapped in a 03 Northstar V-8 engine, 12" corvette brakes with corvette calipers. I also installed poly suspension bushings, brand new shocks and struts and aluminum cradle bushings. It handles pretty good.

Nice to meet you guys, maybe I'll see you at some meets this summer.

c.f.169
im diggin the skyline
nice work on the fiero to,
welcome
Curtis

onestepback
Welcome! I am really digging the 1986 Fiero GT.

boarderfatty
Did all the fiero's GT's come with the lotus designed suspension, or was it just the 88 GT's

By the way, really nice rides, I have always had a thing for the Fiero Fastbacks

Cougar_boy
Welcome:wavey:

crzyone
Thanks for the comments. No fieros came with Lotus designed suspension, its just one big myth. The 88 fieros did come with an updated suspension setup though, got rid of the earlier bump steer problem.

Godzilla
nice rides, the pics of your gtr, those are at subracing correct? any dyno #'s worth mentioning on either car?

crzyone
Yup, we were at Subracing. Donk was getting his GTR dyno'd and some repairs done, I was just there to watch. I hope to make it there soon and get 3 pulls done with my GTR.

The Fiero has a Big Stuff 3 aftermarket ecu which is not completely tuned yet. This spring I will also take it to subracing and see what it puts down.

300zxgal
welcome.. good to hear that motor vehicles finally came to whitecourt

just joking.. i was there quite a few years back and I shit you not someone had there horse tied to a parking stall while they were inside some store.. i just about died laughing

not that theres anything with taking ur horse to the store.. it was more of the fact that it happened in whitecourt.

Fazda
very nice looking car!!! that v8 must feel pretty good in that little car.. lol how did u make it fit. my friend has a caddy sts with northstar and it pulls pretty good in a big ass body

crzyone
Well, it needs a good dyno tuning. It has a ton of low end torque but there is absolutly no power above 3000rpm. I think its a timing issue but I will have to figure it out. Its a coil on plug motor, which makes it hard to time, plus its all programmed and controlled from a laptop.

I installed an LT1 corvette fuel pump and have had a fuel pressure tester on the fuel rail, plenty of fuel. Has lots of air and fuel, it HAS to be a timing issue. I have been told AFI has lots of experience with the Big Stuff 3 ecu so I will probibly get them to tune it for me.

Thanks for the comments, appreciate it.

And 300zxgal, have only seen 1 horse in the last 4 years of living here. Must be better than it was when you were here

EK9Hatch
Welcome to the forum! It's nice to see someone that has some knowledge of cars

I'm not a big Skyline fan, but yours is super clean! And that Fiero is pretty damn cool.

From what I read you are still tuning it, so you probably didnt bring it to the track yet? When its tuned, what will you expect it to run?

Jamie

Savage
hey welcome sweet rides man.

crzyone
Thanks

Other people who have swapped in a Northstar are in the mid to high 12 second range at around 106-110mph with the fiero 5 speed. Not bad for the stock 300hp/300lb/ft engine. Guys who keep the 250+ pound 4 speed auto run in the low to mid 13s.

www.chrfab.com has a whole bunch of performance parts for the motor. Their mild cams add another 75hp over stock. With their valve springs, retainers and mild cams it would be a 375hp engine that revs to 8000rpm. It is a 4.6L aluminum DOHC V-8.

The strength of the stock 5 speed getrag is the limiting factor on this car. The fiero has excellent weight transfer on acceleration due to being mid engine so it loads the transmission more with a spirited takeoff rather than just spinning the tires.

I was seriously thinking of swapping in either an NSX 5 speed or an SRT-4 5 speed, both are significantly heavier built than the fiero 5 speed. I think I will try and keep the power goals to a realistic number so I'm not always breaking stuff.

I know this is a crappy video but you get the idea how it sounds.

Levi! Wassup man?

I'll have to start saving my pennies if you're still selling the Fiero within the next 6-9 months.

I'm liking the Skyline too.

It will probibly be for sale this summer. It will be fully tuned by then with a dynoslip.

You might remember Ben (Befarrer) from PFF and RFT, we are going to rewire the harness and take it to a dyno soon.

Didn't know you would be on here, still into turbo Dodges?

Nice, I'm sure it'll put down some decent WHP for sure.

Yeah, Ben and my old car he doesn't want to sell back to me.

Turbododges I gave up on, you can't modify and daily drive one... too unreliable. I'm sick of owning FWD performance cars and you've known for a long time that I would love to get another Fiero... it's always been bad timing when the good deals come up.

Hopefully by the summer I may have the means to aquire that red beauty. I'll Keep you posted!

Grant
That's a great colour on that GT-R. Don't think I've ever seen it before.

2 very nice cars buddy! lovin' the 86 ;)

Thanks, this color almost hides the carbon fiber hood. I will probibly repaint it this summer, the same color.

I'd rather sell it to someone I know that would appreciate it then some stranger that would not.

You say you are sick of FWD performance cars and you bought a Cobalt SS? haha, how do you like it?

Yeah man, it would totally be appreciated. :)

I bought the SS in Sept of 2005, so I've had it for a little while now... it's pretty quick, and handles nicely for an economy car.

It's been a good daily, but traction has always been the issue. It would be nice to not have FWD traction issues like that anymore.

I have to say, its just nice to have enough power for traction to be an issue ;) Those have a factory LSD right? Torque steer shouldn't be too bad?

When I pull the AWD fuse in the GTR it becomes pretty squirly, but with the AWD engaged it just plants and goes. Wicked acceleration. I have not had full power with the Fiero yet so I can't say if it has traction issues or not... I imagine it will hook pretty well.

Hehe, I expect it to have traction issues... just the kind I like!

Actually in the Cobalt the LSD is an option that is included in the G85 Package... something I unfortunately didn't get.

Maybe I just dislike imports because the auto manufaturers are height biased!

ehehe

nice fiero!

crzyone
I don't think I've ever seen so many compliments for a fiero outside of a fiero forum. This forum is pretty classy in that respect. There are always fiero haters out there loaded with bad information.

Thanks!

Leafy
Levi, you should give a little insight to how many different engines you've tried in the Fiero.

What's your plans for the GT-R?

95EagleAWD
Diggin' that Fiero!

Looks like it would be a ton of fun!

crzyone
Well, engines that have been in my fiero include the stock 2.8 V-6, a 3.4dohc out of a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and the Northstar. Engines that ALMOST got installed that were ready to do were a 4.9L pushrod cadillac V-8 and a Corvette LT-1. Fortunatly I ended up with the Northstar. Same HP as the vette motor but much cooler, newer design.

The GTR is going to get forged rods, pistons, ARP studs, injectors, APEXI FC, HKS2530 Turbos, Intercooler, exhaust.... Its quite an extensive list. I hope to have a super responsive engine with around 600hp at the flywheel on pump gas.

Leafy, you getting rid of your SS?

Not presently... you know someone who would want it?

I plan on getting some cheaper daily driver transportation after I get my sports car, a lower monthly payment is always welcome.

Welcome man, the Fiero look's like fun shit

I was in Edmonton the other day and it looks like we have quite a bit more snow than Edmonton. Winter sucks!

chico_kj_23
nice fiero, the north american cousin to the mr2! also solid looking gtr, looks like you have some good plans for it!

I've always thought that the 2nd gen MR2s look alot like the fastback fieros. I like the MR2 alot, superior build quality than the fiero. I'm not sure what it is about the fiero but its fun to drive.

I guess driving a sub-par car at its limit is more fun than driving a good car that can out drive you. ;)

Haha I totally know what you mean by this comment. I occasionally drive my dad's 84 Fiero that he has babied since the day he bought it. Of course, I bag it to shit but even with a whopping 100hp, its fun as hell. Tranny feels like you are driving a tractor but that's what makes it challenging and blast.

A little bit of tuning on the laptop and I am no longer limited to 3000rpm

WOW Levi What were you revving that up to, 8000???

Now I have to get it.

crzyone
Small updates

Skyline has been painted

Fiero has been tuned.

Don't mind the rattly exhaust on the fiero, blew a muffler last fall when tuning. The sound at the end are the brakes, must have got a rock stuck in one.... Sounds good at WOT though.

kouki240
Very nice colour choice! The black pillars look awesome as well. Any other pictures?

Talontsi96
I never thought I'd say this, but that Fiero is Kick ass.!!!...why would you be thinking of selling it?

crzyone
Thanks

Its the usual story, wife does not want me to have 2 toy cars. Its tempting to sell the GTR and keep the fiero just because I built it.

Here is a build thread for the Fiero if anyone is interested

nice cars man. good job on the fiero.

crzyone
Well, since my car is all back in one piece I will show some updated pictures.

Need to find a location and take some really good pictures of it but I think you guys get the idea. It looks even better in person, I really like the Nissan 350z Daytona Blue.

crzyone
is there any way to change the title of the thread?

I think the top of the hill would be a good shot, except that Tower road going up is all gravel.
The car looks awesome. I can't wait to see it around.

SilviaDrifter
man that turned out realllllllly nice....im impressed

crzyone
Thanks for the comments!

Just put on a set of Advan RG-IIs. 18x9.5. The wheels have 255/35R18s but I plan to upgrade these to 275s very soon.

I think they look 10x better than the old rims
