Panoramic glass roof... Hmmm, this all sounds neat, but heavy...

DoubleDown
They haven't actually announced anything since the concept a year ago, have they? Or has something changed?

http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_s..._coupe_concept/

I hope it comes out looking like that, because that is one hot fucking car.

SilverZ24
Glass probably won't be a production thing (at least not one piece with the windshield like in the pic) but the coupe looks good. Not much different then the current one. But then the exterior was never really lacking much. It was the interior that needed work and by the looks of the new sedan, the interior has definitely improved.

ohboyitsme
Wonder how much it would cost to replace that sucker if you got a crack in it?

Holy crap, it does look the same!. Dammit, and here I thought I was onto something....

Yea I can't see the glass roof going into production...plus, they would need to add larger side mirrors and put door handles on the car.

It's coming out with a lot more power than the 2000 S4 :) But it's also twice the price of one these days, so you still made the right choice, hehe.

And I think the side mirrors are cameras in the concept, hence the size. Doubt that'll make it to production either.

Honestly though, you could junk all those features and just keep the styling, and I'd still be all over it.

Sex... Machine...

I wonder how high the price is going to be since the Altima coupe is coming out this summer?

Woblin_Goblin
I'm hoping that the new coupe has more headroom than the current gen coupes as I barely have enough room in my sedan. The 2007 sedans have more room so I think they're headed in the right direction.

Fazda
ya the infiniti is one sexy bitch.. i'd stick in it's tail pipe if i could.

How tall are you? Im 6'2 and have no problems. I suppose it might depend on how you sit.

Alpha Gangsta
oooh.... this is certainly changing my mind on the G35s. I'm loving the 2007 sedans and the coupe looks like it might be gold as well. nice!

SilverZ24
On the glass roof, I have spent the last two days driving an 07 S550 4matic with the glass roof and it is totally pimp. The front half of the roof can slide over the back half as a huge sunroof. The entire thing is tinted really dark so from the outside you can almost miss it. And there are two rollers that will completely cover the glass with a shade that you can not see through and lets no sun through. So damn cool. And this particular one also has nightvision which is a pretty pimp option too.

Was thinking of upgrading to a used G35 coupe or 328/330ci but I haven't driven either. Any opinions?

I know what DoubleDown will say... that guy's a Nissan FAN BOY:D

GQsmooth
new g35 coupe will pretty much be the same as the current one except a changeup in the head/tail lights, just like the 07' sedan.

Umm... the changes, even just cosmetically, from the '06 to the '07 sedan are a hell of a lot more than that bud.

6'5". I need to have the seat most of the way back cause my legs are long. I like the seat back tilted as upright as possible because it's a bit of a stretch for my arms to the steering wheel (03 doesn't telescope). When my hair grows long it brushes it sometimes brushes against the roof. It's not uncomfortable by any means in fact I am quite comfortable during long trips but I sort of wish I would have bought a new 05 rather than used. heh, oh well, it'll be easier to afford the next G...

Hahah, yes I loved my G35 to pieces. Although 330ci's are getting pretty cheap now that the new E90's are out. They're probably pretty competitive price-wise.

Get an '04 G35 Coupe with the Brembo package and slap some springs and a decent set of rims on it. Nicer than any non-M E46 you can buy :)

EK9Hatch
AND....If anyone is interested, my roomate has his 04 G35 Coupe for sale. It is a 6 Speed, has the brembos and aftermarket 18x10 and 18x9 wheels.

Check it out... http://forums.780tuners.com/showthr...;threadid=54671

I have driven both and the only thing I really don't like on the G35 is there is a lot less refinement in the motor and tranny on the G35 compared to BMW's inline 6's. There is never a bad vibration in a BMW. They do look great and they do have a lot of power though. The other thing is the G35's are very big compared to a 3 series. They are closer to the size of a 5 series. And while some people like and need the extra size, I prefer smaller cars when possible. Handling is better on the 3 as well.

So I would go for the 330

Not sure what you mean about the motor refinement... do you have any specifics? The only complaint I have about the G35's drivetrain is there's a LOT of rotating mass. They use a dual-mass flywheel, and I'm not sure what the crank weighs, but the rev's really hang between shifts. Most people probably don't even notice it though, just drive it and see. I never noticed a bad vibration or anything though, it was a very smooth ride and a very smooth motor. Good cruising car :)

As for the 330 handling better, even if that's true, I think if you're in the market for a 330, you're not concerned about hard cornering.

I've owned both a G35 Coupe and E46 M3 now and, for what it's worth, the only thing I like more about the M3 is the power, and the 330 won't have that benefit.

I'm a Nissan fanboy though, and SilverZ24 is a BMW fanboy, so ignore us, haha. Drive both first :)

Here is an artist's sketch of the 08 G35 coupe, debut at the New York Auto Show in April. Sounds like it's going to have the new 3.7l rumored to be around 330hp. In showrooms this summer.

I might have my 05 6mt up for sale in the spring if anyone is interested.

BlueTurboEGG
In Dubai, the new G35 Sedan is listed as 327HP using the "old sae" HP measuring methods.

Some V36 owners in the US have clocked 14.2 with a backup run of 14.1 at 99MPH on an auto with no brake stand.

Hm, interesting.

lol true, but I still like the G. As for refinement, when starting the car and letting it idle, the BMW inline 6's are smoother. Just sit there and redline the engines and same thing. The BMW is smoother, with no vibrations coming into the car and the sound is nicer. Similar to the difference between a Honda V6 and a Ford V6. :)

And oddly enough, even though I like the 3 series for the reasons I have mentioned, I may be getting a G35 next because with one kid now and talks of a second one, the 3 series is going to be too small (even though it is one of the things I like better about it). So since I can't afford a 5 series or other similar sized German car, I will probably settle for something like the G35 because it is the best bang for the buck in that class.

Those arn't mirrors Jamie! They're cameras.. You use a video mounted somewhere inside the car! Door handles too! lol.

Oh. The new engine they are putting into it is apparently a tuned version of the fx45 motor.. Right now it has the fx35 v6.. I thought they were calling it the g45 though. lol.

New G35 is light years ahead of the old one. I had the opportunity to compare two G's side by side in a test-drive.

There is absolutely no comparison to the old one. But worth considering if you're in the market for a Bimmer or a G. They even made the new V36 sound like an inline 6.

All you gotta do is decide whether the 8 grand is worth it :)

fartcannon
love the need headlights, just like the ones on the g35x
