The Fountain - Click HERE for Original Thread

So, I saw the Fountain starring Wolverine. Not a bad show. But be warned, it's not for everyone.

It's very esoteric, very outside the box and very much left open to allow the viewer to interpret what was meant, and by that I mean if you don't enjoy movies where you really have to think hard about things that aren't shown to figure out what's going on, you won't like it.

It jumps around a lot, which is the problem. It jumps from a man floating in a bubble through space, to a scientist during our normal day and age here on earth, to a story about a spanish explorer back during the days of the Inquisition. While 2 of those stories are ensured to be distinct and separate and explained as such in the movie, the third relates to both of them and it isn't until the last 20 minutes or so that it's tied in with the other 2, and even then I had to explain it to my friend, who's definately an intelligent, outside the box type thinker himself.

It's very thought provoking, very inspiring, but at the same time it can seem extremely disjointed. I almost walked out halfway through, but I'm glad I stuck around. At the halfway point I would've given it a 0/10, because you're just so confused your head hurts, but the end really turned it around and I gave it a 9/10.

But again, I'll reiterate, it's not for everyone. Most people would probably still leave it between 0-2/10 even with the ending. So if you see it and hate it, don't blame me, you've been warned.

The acting is excellent, the visual effects are top rate, and the sound/music is perfectly matched to the scene. The story is what will either make or break it for you.

I'd give you a brief synopsis of the story if I could without giving too much away, but in trying to explain one part of it, I'd ruin another, which is probably why even the trailers made no sense and didn't really explain the storyline.

I realize this review is really disjointed, but then, so is the movie, so what can you expect?
