When you do pick up a JDM engine, be sure to check the compression and make sure the turbo's are in reasonable shape. If they turbo's are shot, make sure you pick up some new turbos.
As for the harness, the NA harness will work, but you will not have any connections for the boost cut solenoids. This is a bad thing in my opinion. For one thing, if you don't have the boost cut solenoid connection, you will need to get an electronic boost controller, or else it will boost only at around 6-7 psi instead of 9psi. However, if you plan to eventually boost higher than stock with an ECU upgrade, you need the boost controller irregardless. The bad part is that the boost cut solenoids are in there for a reason - if the ecu detects knock, it cuts boost down among other things. With an EBC, you disconnect the boost cut solenoids and you lose the safety. However, if you have the wiring in place, you can use a relay to cut out the boost controller if the ecu wants to. Just a good layer of safety IMHO.
As for coil overs, I would also consider looking at SPLparts.com's coil over kit. Just remember to select the right coil overs as there are some that are better for track than on the street. Personally, I'm going KYB AGX with Eibach Pro's. I think it should be sufficient enough for me for a long time. |

| In addition to your fuel pump, you'll need a tt fuel pump controller. |

First of all, congrats!
My first question to you though is why the heck are you here and not all over twinturbo.net like a dirty shirt? It truly is a one-stop shop for EVERYTHING you need on this subject.
Hint: Go to tt.net. ;)

You might have to go "custom" because of your hybrid application. I'm not sure if Z1 offers a standard option for you or not. The last guy in Edmonton who did a TT swap had an NA 2+2 and had a local driveshaft shop make something for him, IIRC.

I wouldn't spend that money now. You could spend half as much on a quality set of springs (eg. Eibach) and adjustable shocks (eg. KYB AGX) and get a huge benefit over stock. If you're not going to be racing (roadcourse, LOTS of autox), a full coilover kit would be a waste for you. If you're just running on the street and maybe partaking in the occasional autox, you will never need the gazillion levels of damping, you will never see the benefit of corner-weighting, etc. |

I'll 2nd that motion. twinturbo.net is a great resource. You just have to have tough skin at times and don a flame suit occassionally. |

TT.net info is good, posting locally is also good (parts availability, dealer advice, local help)
Can't solve every problem through teh intraweb, as good as tt.net can be (tech help and FAQ's) they don't cover everything.
Helps to have some local support, who know what we can get through the Canadian parts system, who to talk to when you hit a snag, and general commiseration is better dealt with locally.
Not that a ton of info can't be found online. Use all your resources.

| yeah i am posting here is cause you guys are local and afterall you guys have worked on your z's and you guys own TT =) so i guess asking for advice locally is easier then talking to some of the guys on tt. |

Save yourself A LOT of money and headaches! |

| yep getting a frontclip i remmeber what you had to when u told me about ur mr2 swap lol i am for sure not going to go scavanger for parts |

| yes another question is there any way to use the jdm tt harness? |
|
|
| MixManMash |
I don't think it's possible to re-use the jdm tt harness as the layout is different. The car is RHD so the ECU is on the left versus LHD cars where it's on the right.
Your best bet is to order a harness for a LHD TT. |

I agree with Mahesh, but not just due to the possible Left vs. Right issues. If you are going to the trouble of dropping an engine into your car, do it right and install a *new* EFI harness. The earlier (model year) the Z, typically the worse shape the original harness is in. The Z32 engine bay gets extremely hot and the connectors become brittle and contact points corrode. (This is true of well taken care of cars here, and I don't see why this would be any different in JDM cars)
Start fresh! |

| i am acutally picking up a whole car =) so thats why ia m wondering car got tboned but car is in amazing conditoin. plugs and connecters still have the soft rubbery feel not cracked or abused by heat. =) |

2nd. Seriously, if you are going through the hassle, don't cheap out. Just replace it.
The 2 times that I cheaped out on the Z, I regretted it. From this point forward, I decided no more regrets. Do it right the first time! |
