Blackberry ??? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I am in the market to get a new phone so I want to get a blackberry. I don't know much about them so I want to know which one is the best? More user friendly? and works with rogers.
I know that palm has them and uses windows, so what program do the other companies use? Is palm better than the others or the other way around. I would like to get some ideas here before I go to the store and they try to sell me some crap. Thanks.

I have the 8700 and it does everything and has individual letters on every button making it VERY easy to email and text. Its like a mini computer. When I went to Rogers recently when the new blackberry came out they said it wasnt as good as mine and that the 8700 was still the best on the market. ALthough blackerrys are expensive and you have to get a monthly blackberry package. My phone with an extra plain phone is $300 a month and I have the best plan they offer at rogers. But I get free roadside service and any car my phone is in is covered!

Talk to "Casanova" on here. The new Blackberry Pearl is awesome... so tiny.

I guess I'm spoiled for a stylus, ever since I started using a mouse with a PC. I had a Blackberry and I found it annoying that all selection had to be done with the roller button on the side.

I've now got an HP IPAQ with a stylus and I find it much less frustrating to navigate with it.

I have the 7130e and it rules...it is Telus mind you...and I hate them..but the internet use (EVDO) is nice...texting is easy and your email is always right there...the pearl is the balls though from what I hear and it is Rogers.

I never understood why so many people get Blackberry's.

The Treo is far superior in many things because it's still Windows-based. The Blackberry has it's positives, but those positives mainly shine through in a corporate environment. What it does do, it does very well.

There are some that you may notice, such as lower data charges on the Blackberry. But for the most part, the Treo is superior for the average non-corporate user.

Have you ever owned any of the 2 phones your talking about?

I dont know about the new treo but my old one would always freeze and was kinda slow..I have a blackberry 7130g was easier to used and never freezes. But I do agreed that theres way more software for the TREO .

Thanks for the replies. Are there any ones out there that fold open and not as chunky. I am not a big fan of the pearl so I was wondering if there is anything else.

Yes - I actually set them all up at work. I've used everything from the Blackberry's, Treo's, iPaq's and the Audiovox's (Mobile PC). Probably a couple more that I'm missing as well.

Was your Treo based on the Palm OS or the Windows? The Windows based ones are leaps and bounds ahead of any of the Palm OS devices.

As I said before the Blackberry's are very good for what they offer. No one else will do email better, or surf the internet more efficiently. However, for the average home user (And why they would get a Blackberry is beyond me) they are not nearly as powerful as the Treo's. The Treo has much more available software, and can provide more for the user.

Yes, the Treo will experience typical Windows-like problems and the Blackberry will typically be problem free. But it's not like we're new to having to deal with typical Windows problems :)

We've had some Audiovox's floating around that are very small flip phones. All our users found them hard to type, but some stuck with them because they were more "stylish". I'm not sure if we still have any left...

Telus offers a small one - made by Pantech I believe. I was looking into it for some users, but I'm not sold on it. It's a smartphone, like the Audiovox's we had, and I've never found anyone that honestly liked it.

What are the features you are looking for that are drawing you to this type of phone? Wireless email? Internet? Applications? Data packages are very expensive, especially when you start to surf the net....
