Cops don't get hailed for doing good deeds as much as they get flamed for doing something bad.

| Ravendarat |
| The way I see it, we are far better off with the cops we have than to not have any at all. I, for one, have deserved every ticket I have ever gotten, including the speeding ticket I got 40 feet from my parking lot. If I fuck up and get caught I am ok with that cause I had it comming. I hate when people play all innocent and shit. "I was just going 5 K over the speed limit, this is bullshit" I hate crap like that, you were speeding, you said you were speeding, now take the speeding ticket, suck it up princess and if you wanna bitch more I'll give you a soother for your pussy. Im not at all saying that Driven or whoever it was on here doesnt have a right to be pissed, I dont know the guy nor do I pretend to. He might have every reason in the world to be mad at some cop. All Im saying is that people need to grow up and accept the fact that sometimes its YOUR FUCKING FAULT, and the world isnt out to get you and that 99 times out of 100 the cop is just doing their job and you being an asshole aint helping out shit. Im done with that rant, and BTW that picture is pretty damn funny. |

i've had my car impounded and been sworen at and insulted by a cop, she said i had no insurance, when i had insurance and had proof of insurance
i've had my car ilegaly searched and cameras taken and broken and returned

Example 1 : I'm going to work at 6:30 am in the morning... i'm not speeding.. all my lights work.. everything is good. I get pulled over and i receive a tint ticket. I understand that i'm in the wrong about the tint.. but i mean.. do u have to pull over a hard working honest citizen that pays his taxes at 6:30 am to give him a petty tint ticket. Rather excessive if you ask me.. i mean if i was causing a scene or driving erratically.. i can see why.. but cmon.
Also.. i have met good and bad cops.. but i will say.. the amount of cops i see.. not signaling.. is repulsive.. they are supposed to set an example. Also what shawley said... i was with him that night.. and we didn't do anything wrong... and were treated otherwise. |

I'm just going by your logic here so its ok to drink and drive at 6:00 a.m. b/c there is not that many cars on the road vs drinking and driving when its 8 a.m. to 5 a.m.? Was your front windows tinted? If yes then you asked for it... regardless of what time of day you got the ticket you knew before getting that tint put on it is illegal. So suck it up. And maybe just maybe at 6:30 a.m. its still pretty dark outside and the cop can't see your front windows?!?
Everyone has their own takes on the EPS mine have been pretty decent I've had good dealings with them and I've never gotten harrassed yet. I was caught driving fast once in downtown cop pulled me over and i was being honest with him that i was speeding. He didn't right me a ticket but gave me a warning. I think its based on your how polite you are and your driving record. But usually 90% of the time EPS has been good in general to me. |

Weren't EPS some of the must corrupt in Canada? Cant remember where i saw that article but it was a good read..
Nothing we didnt already know though..
Im always going to hate cops.. Its in my blood.. Weather i deserve the ticket or not..
But my BIGEST problem is the double standed like mentioned. Its ok for cops to drive like taxi drivers? Fuck that. Give them a ticket. There not held accountable nearly enough for there actions.
You pass your schooling.. You get a badge.. And someone decides from here on out your going to do the right thing so we wont bother to keep an eye on them. We'll just take everything as gospel.
Someone start a thread on insurance companies.. Cops and insurance.. The two things ill rant all bloody day about.. |

I agree. I've gotten a few speeding tickets over the years. I was totally in the wrong and deserved every one of them. I was polite, the cops were polite and I went on with my day. Does it suck? Yeah. You learn from your mistakes and move on, don't cry like a baby on forums cause cops pulled you over for a legitimate reason. |

|
| Fish_e_o |
i dunno guys personally i like the rcmp more.. they tend to be lazier.. when they catch me badly speeding or some other bad activity and i turn off they just say fuck it...
eps however doesn't give up that easy. they'll go to all the exits of the place you tuned into and try and find you to give you a nice tint ticket etc....
btw i've never gotten a ticket... |

or
#4 cops using lights and siren to go down 23rd ave then turn down rebbait hill road only to see they are rushing into the terwiliger tim hortons? we've had meets there and many of you that have come have seen this multiple times, pavel i know u have
#5 cops going up to lights, turning on their lights to go thru and then turning them off then the cops turning into tim hortons aswell

#3 Again you don't know the situation unless you are in the police cruiser to see what happened. Were you in the police car to see if the officer got a dispatch and if the dispatch got cancelled?
#4 Yea but your point in argument is stating that ALL cops are losers that use this as an advantage. Just because you see 3 or 4 cops that do this doesn't make them all bad now does it? And I'm sure you've pulled off a few things in your life time that can be non ethical. Its like saying all skyline/STi owners are douchebags because they speed or drive reckless. Thats just a false statement.
#5 is the same as number #4 so you're just restating what you just said.
So for all you guys bashing cops would you prefer that our police force is corrupt like it such countries police officers accept bribes? Or just stop impound your vehicle jsut for the hell of it so that you can pay them to get it back?
Also lets point out the fact that us being car enthusiasts, police officers do take due diligence in stopping car theft which is ultimately our number one enemy. Don't get me wrong I'm not for or against cops but I've yet to see an actual VALID reasoning as to why ALL cops as some of you say are bad. |

Those EPS members that are too good to use their signals really chap my ass at present.
Other than that, I've never been singled out by them or had any bad run-ins, so I don't really have a problem with the EPS in general. I know a lot of them have power trips due to more younger members populating the force and whatnot, but they are always there for you if your car gets ripped off or investigating your stabbing wound from Whyte Ave. Like it or not, we need them... otherwise this town will totally run itself into the ground in a day. Being that said, call up the complaint line rightfully so when necessary. By mocking the entire police force, does nothing to solve the original problem. I'm also not belittling anyone's negative outlook/experiences with the police, but there are certainly worse things in life to be aware of. Bottom line, there are many venues available if unfair events have taken place, such as lawsuits. There are the bad cops, but there are most certainly the good ones too. For enlightenment, try a security job or apply to go on some ride-alongs. You'll soon see how dark the city is within the shadows and why some officers fall from grace.
As for those cruisers stuck upon meridians or molded into light poles... doesn't surprise me at all, those Vics handle like crap. My friend had a 98 ex-cop car he bought at an auction as a dirt cheap winter car(import hater)... that boat was apparently fuggen scary in winter. He actually wiped out on the highway last winter and wrote it off. Be that as it may, Alberta roadways/highways are poorly maintained as it is. |

Just FYI, the term "late model" typically refers to the most recent models from a manufacturer. In the case of Nissans, an example of a late model is the 350Z. NOT Skylines (R32s), S13s, Z32s, etc. |

About 2 years ago me and my wife were driving down ST. Albert trail turning east onto 137th ave, when we were cut off by a fellow in a silver Magnum, Acting on reflex after the near accident i sped up to see who the guy was or if he even knew he almost hit us. Once i got up beside him he pulled (obviously one of those climax points you should really rethink your disposition), as we reached castledowns road, i was doing approx 190kmh at the time he was a little ahead when we flew by a cruiser. By the time we had gotten pulled over we were at Nothgate mall parking lot. I knew i was dumb and was going to probably lose my car and lisence that night and by all rights should have.
1) Speeding 130km over the speed limit
2) Illegal street racing
3) Endangerment
4) Stunting
5) Illegal lights on my car (Underglow and blue turn signals)
6) Failure to stop (castledowns road to 97th)
All because i had a brutally dumb momment. All of these possible offences got summed up to 1 "Speeding at an excessive rate" $173.00 fine 3 demerits. he let me off the hook, I was terrified cause i knew the consiquences i was facing. So i have had A good experiance with an EPS Officer.... A good experiance, not too many more especially at the ends of the months.
But man did i learn from that scare lol only racing at the tracks for me  |

well all i have to say is, if cops want to be respected, they should lead by example...they shouldnt abuse there power and speed w/o there radar on or go through intersections w/ there sirens on jus so they can get to timmies quicker (shawley's post)
ive also met ppl who have gone for ride alongs and told me that they pull u-turns, squeel there tires (stunting) to enhance the whole ride along experience. I am not a big fan of cops either, regardless i will be respectful to em when I encounter them. |
|

| every cop that i have ran into to has treated me with the same respect that i have shown them. I even have been pulled over (on my dirtbike) with no insurance and no licence and got let off with a warning because i gave her respect, and i think she thought i was sexy and she was RCMP. so i give cops respect and they let me off on a few things that i should have been put away for. |
