Where can I live? - Click HERE for Original Thread

baker_jeff
The gf and I are looking to move out when she's done school in may.

We are looking for an area that is clean and safe for my gf, and safe for my car as well.

1 Bedroom
$800 or less
REALLY safe area and/or secure parking for my car

Can't be far south or far east. Downtown is prefered.

Any suggestions?

LOL

Sorry Jeff, but

Clean
Safe
Secure Parking, and Downtown WORKS

But $800 or less does not fit into the equation at all.
Especially now that rental and property value are at a all time high.

Try,

Dirty
Dangerous
Grand Theft Auto and
Castledowns

That you can achieve with $800 or less.

for $800 or less in that kinda area, it is possible, but how many roommates do you plan to have?

Try Sherwood Park or St. Albert. You'd be surprised what you can find. And they're "safer" than Edmonton.

McFly
shr park wont be cheap

First off, no one questions that Jeff even HAS a g/f?? AND one willing to live with him on her own free will.....

Sorry Jeff, but blow up dolls aren't so good at contibuting to the bills...

:p

Seriously though, try some Boardwalk properties (I have driven by quite a few that have signs up saying rent protection since yada yada-think their website is bwalk.com) Unfortunately your best (cheapest) best will be to end up NE or NW. I'm in Castledowns and it's like 10 mins downtown, bearing in mind I hit it before the morning rush.

I think your best bet is to share a house with someone and use the garage parking.

I don't think any building with $800/month rent will have "safe" parking for a modified car.

Downtown is usually about 1200 min for a 1 bedroom in the decent part.

Even out in the "clean, safe" suburbs (lol) your still looking at about 1000 per month.

Save up some more money.

Even the Secured parkades in downtown see a TON of break-ins. I was lucky enough to only have a mountain bike stolen from my parking stall. Lots of others had cars vandalized. That was the building across 109th from save-on. Rent for a two bedroom was 885$ 4 years ago.

I second that, North East is probably your best bet for affordable and safe living, for that kind of money.
