Yes.

Dude,

Ignore Inzane, if you want my advice stick with 18's. 19's look to big and way to awkward. 20" rims don't even fit.

Regarding your question the widest you can go out back of a Z32 is 10", even with that you might have rubbing issues (super- HICAS). Your best bet is to only go an inch wider than the stock wheels. And in terms of the height of the rim 18's are pretty extreme.

You have to remember your dealing with a early 90's sports car, it's not meant to be blinged out. Granted if you choose to bling it out it will cost you a fortune in modifications.

Cheers

Here is a good read on wheels for a Z32. It's not just the widths, but also the offsets you choose.

I have 18x10s in the back and they are a tight fit. In fact, I have to have my fenders rolled so that the tire doesn't rub over hard bumps.

And, 19s look silly. They are too big and leave very little profile for a tire. 18s max IMHO.

20's dont fit? I have seen a numder of z's with 20's, does it look good not at all IMO!!! But they can fit with the right width and offset! As for dont go more then an inch wider statement, that is very false.

Part of your problem is your tire size.

In order of tallest to shortest:
285/35-18 > 275/35-18 > 285/30-18

I run 275/35-18 on mine and haven't experienced a rubbing problem.

Yes, I agree to a certain extent, but don't forget that the cause could be attributed to offset as well.

It's a sportscar, not a Hummer. Just for fun, price out some 20" rubber. When you pick yourself back off the floor, price out 19 and 18" tires.

Yup. Such is also the case when one prices out 18" tires for the first time after years of stock-sized 16" rubber.

I agree. In fact, I am finding there are more options for tires especially when you are looking for R-compound tires in the 17" size. Priced better too!

Not to mention, can you imagine how much harder your motor has to work due to the increase in rotational inertia? The car is going to be signifcantly slower with 19s and 20s. Heck, I noticed a slight difference with my 18s. I know somebody on either the ProbeTalk or MX6 forums that figured out how much lower the mass has to be per inch increase in size in order to maintain the same rotational inertia.

Imagine how much harder the brakes have to work to stop the car too?

i kind figured that 20's would look gay.

i think the new plan will be:

17 x 8.5/9 in the front
18 x 9/9.5 in the back

thanks for the help

Not a bad plan at all. If you go with a staggered approach like that you can run the following tire sizes to match the OEM rolling diameter almost EXACTLY:

245/40-17 front
285/30-18 rear (but for this you'll want your rear rim to be at least 9.5" wide, if not 10")

Just make sure when you choose a spoke design and offset for the 17" rim in front that you leave yourself the room for a big brake kit, should you decide to go that way sometime in the future. (not ALL 17" rims for the Z32 will automatically fit with the Stoptech/AP Racing/Brembo, etc. BBKs.) Just in case! ;)

Way better plan

I don't know but I think that my brothers 300zx with 19's looks pretty friggen good but I am biased. He only has 9.5" wide rears with 275's though and its lowered and doesn't rub at all.

That's because he has TSW Thruxton's. Those wheels just look awesome period!
