amp install - Click HERE for Original Thread

white46
i'm having trouble re-installing my amp for the car.

i had amp and sup setup in my trunk and had to take out amp for some reason.
after all the work is done, i'm trying to re-install amp and sub but two 20 amp fuses on amplifier keeps blowing out.

here is how i did it.

1. take the wiring fuse out which goes into + terminal on battery.
2. connect +, - , remote, and sound in/out to amp.
3. reconnect fuse to wiring.

as soon as i reconnect fuse on wiring, there is a spark and fuses on amp blows.

i did it like this when i was installing for the first time, and it was fine. i don't understand why the fuses on amp keeps frying out.

please somebody help me. i guess i'm doing something wrong here. :(

check to make sure the pos and neg wires don't have any stragling wires touching each other. that is what happened to me one time it is an easy fix. it that doesn't work, check the ground.

fredster102
also make sure none of the wires are touching anywhere on the amp they are supposed to

You could have a short in the amp its self such is life it happens. If you have a multi meter with a continuity tester on it check to see if the speaker terminals are not grounded out. If you dont have a multi meter just take it to a car audio installation place they can check for you.
Oh and to check to see if they are grounded out put one lead to the ground on the amp and the other to the speaker terminals

Just put wires in the amp holder. Jk Don't do that!

Check all grounds for sure! Make sure you infact have the wires in the right way. Check that the speaker wires are installed right. I cant think of what else could be wrong!

thank you very much for your help guys. :)

Did you get it fixed? It could also be that you're not running appropriate speaker wire. My bud had 8 gauge and wondered y his amp went out hahaha.

white46
yeah. i made a stupid mistake. the grounding was loose.
should have checked it bofore I install them.
