I have found that Cougar is a good place to go if you want a paint job within a budget. They should be able to tailor a paint job to your budget, just keep in mind that the less you spend the less quality you get out of it. |

We seriously need a sticky or something for this. We should include information for Desros, Cougar (never heard of them), basic prep/paint tips.
I think there's a huge demand for 'cheap' (I mean inexpensive) paintjobs. |

If I get a couple weekends this summer I want to document a complete how-to process for painting a car yourself. I'm not sure if my work will be able to give me the holidays, but I think a nice picture tutorial would be nice. |

Beware if you do the prep work yourself that most shops will not warranty their paint job. The prep work is the make or break part of the whole thing. Spraying paint itself is actually simple once you have the technique down pat.
The hard part is the prep work, and the after painting work (If you choose to wet sand and such). I've seen a car, that was painted in a home garage, win best of show before in Powerama so with enough time and practice anything is possible. |

All of the surfaces that need to be painted will need to be prepped in one way or another.
A classic example is the area around the windshield. Most people just mask the rubber strip off, and then spray it. What happens then is the paint slowly peels away around the rubber strip because of lack of adhesion.
This is just one, of the many, many examples, that shows how you need to take the time and prepare all the surfaces for painting if you want a quality job. |

you can just paint the car yourself for $50 for paint and material and probably another $50 for body work and preb work if you do it yourself. I tries this tremclad roll on way and it work really good. but it only can be done in warmer weather.

If I wanted a budget paint job I would take it to Cougar - they are on Yellowhead around 80th St. They seem to be willing to tailor a paintjob to your budget while still providing a quality job. |

| a how-to sticky would be awesome! I am going to experiment on my spoiler but I am quite hesitant due to lots of different fillers or whatever materials and I am not sure which brand to use. Like step wise, I have an idea but it would be great if it was concrete |

$1000 to paint your entire car?
Yes - that's more than reasonable. I assume it's a single stage, but even then it's a very reasonable price considering the cost of the paint itself. |
