Just wrote off my 85 camry (a guy ran a stop sign in south common and I T-boned him) and Im lookin to upgrade to something better. On Autotrader I saw a couple nice cars from www.360autosports.com but I'd like to know if anyone has dealt with them before.
So far I think I can narrow down my search to something from Toyota, probably a celica. To be honest I dont know much about cars/buying them and I don't know many people who could take the time to help me understand the fundamentals of what makes one car better then another, seeing as they all seem to have similar features these days.
My dad says stick with toyotas because theyre cheap to maintain, hold their value, and are low on gas. Im willing to spend $11,000 and the cars on 360auto fall within that price range. Any advice? |

| Yeah ... their prices seem a bit high for what the cars are. Feel free to check out any number of the reputable importers that sponsor this site in the Authorized Sponsors section. |

I would go with a left hand drive vehicle instead of right there.
It sounds like all you want is a reliable car that you don't need to put any money into. For $11,000 you should be able to get a Camry that's within 10 years, or a Corolla that's within 5 years old. You could probably get a late 90's Integra as well if you wanted something more sporty. |

Yeah you basically nailed it. I do want something a little sportier and I have looked into integras but a coupel buddies already have them so I want something different. Celicas seem pretty sweet so I might be lookin into those. |

I'm sure it'll spark many comments here, but I think you'll be better off, in terms of resale and getting a nice car, by buying it locally here.
I can understand if you want a car not available here (Skyline), however a 1991 MR2 would not be as reliable / problem free as a 2000 Celica would be.
The MR2 is faster, a little rarer, but that doesn't sound like it's what you want. You're telling us you want a car, somewhat sporty, to go from A to B. To me, that screams Solara/Accord Coupe for your price range.
And of course, that the LHD vehicle is safer than RHD. I'm sure this will spark discussion, but the bottom line is that our roads are designed for LHD. If you have a RHD you will have to adapt your driving style to accomodate to the roads. Anyone who claims making a left hand turn downtown in a RHD is just as easy as a LHD is being an ignorant fanboy. Logic would dictate it would be harder, and I've yet to see anything dispute that.
Don't get me wrong, you can adapt to RHD. But there are still critical flaws that will force you to adjust your driving style to match the limitations of the car. Before plunging in - ask yourself if that's what you really want.

As I mentioned above you could look at:
Accord Coupe
Solara
Prelude
Integra
Celica
240SX
I think those would be what you are looking at if you want something newer, that's a Toyota/Honda that's "sporty". |

| Thanks Trevor, that helps me out a lot. One more question now, I see some of these import companies charge a $1500 fee to find the car and bring it in from japan. Are thesepretty standard and if not how could I save money by doing most of this myself? |

if will end up costing you the same ammount as going thru them, because they bring in lots of cars they get better pricing on the cars, storage, shipping, customs brokers, all that stuff because how how much they bring in
remeber CALL AND ASK IF THEY ARE AMVIC LICENCED
IF THEY ARE NO, DO NOT BUY FROM, beacuse they can just take your money and run and you can't do shit, if they are amvic licenced they are forced to give you mecahnical inspections on the cars to show you what is wrong when you take delivery, and they are forced to give you money back if your car NEVER SHOWS |
