Can anyone direct me or refer me to a mechanic or someone whos compentent and whos fluent with the 97 Eclipse gst.

An idling issuse.
Everytime you start the car it idles ver awkward for about 2 mintues then its ok. It seems almost like its bogging out. You can hear some very fast clicking comming from the far left side of the fuel rail that is intermittent. While this occurs when your push the throttle it goes away till the idle drops back down. But after approx 2 min it goes away.
My suspisions are the Idle air controller. |

the IAC wouldn't get better after a couple of minutes. It would be bad all the time...
I would be suspecting EGR or O2 concerns, because it gets better once it has warmed up a bit...but where exactly is that noise coming from? if it's from your fuel rail, you may have some sticky injectors....if it's from the head, you may have degraded oil or worn lifters... |

Subracing (A sponsor of this board) has got a lot of good feedback for their DSM work in the past.
As well, AFI (A sponsor of this board) claims that they will have a 9 second DSM built this year.
I'm not sure if AFI will look at it though, because I think they focus on builds rather than small problems. But you could give either shop a call, with their logging tools they'll have it diagnosed in a matter of minutes. |
