Radio problem - Click HERE for Original Thread

Ok I just upgraded my deck in the car and it works fine...up until i start my car and put it in gear....All of a sudden the volume cuts off...So I can only hear the sound when the car is initially in park or when using the battery..So i am not sure what the problem could be...I figure maybe it's a blown fuse somewhere or perhaps i reversed the wiring for the the power...Any thoughts

What kinda car, where is the deck grounded

INtense_s13
it's a pontiac grand am......Nm...i figured it out thanks...It wasn't grounded properly...Cheers

Ayeso
negative... iirc yellow is constant red is ignition.

Ravendarat
I kinda figured that it was a ground issue, glad you figured it out

i installed my system last week and now i have a constant slight buzz in my speakers, and it doesn't go with the engine

you can't realy notice it unless the volume is turned right down

i rechecked my deck ground, i grounded it to a ground point already in the car,
and i got my amp's and cap grounds down to metal and they're tight.

so i figure its somewhere in my wiring, anyone got any tips...?

Ravendarat
is it a buzzing and popping noise? Cause if it is it is generally a sign that there is a problem in the ignition. Either a faulty spark plug wire, a pin hole in the spark plug wire or a power wire routed to close to the spark plugs or coil.

robyn402
its a buzzing not really loud though...

Personally.......I love electronics and wiring, so I'd just redo the whole thing.

Ayeso
is it related to engine rpm? Sounds like a ground loop feedback.

robyn402
no its doesn't go wiht the rpms, just a constant faint buzz, only hear it when volume is turned right down
