I've got a thing for VW's. If it is planned for here (and they follow through, unlike the GX3), I just might. Since we don't get the R23, it would be nice to see some sort of RWD VW with some sport value to it. |

That's an interesting comment, since they were still building the RR aircooled bug just a few years ago. What car ended in '67 that spelled the failure of VW? The Bugatti Veyron isn't a car? |

i'd like it if VW remade the 67 micro bus but with a bi-turbo VR6 or Porsche engine. i'd even be the first in line to buy one and more than likely the first to kill my warranty by modding it:lol:
it would have to be a 10 window, split safari windshield, w/camperised interior. a 60/40 split side door would be a nice touch.
k thnx |

67 was the last year of the splitty Transporters and the last year of the good Bugs. (They got bulbous and uglier and uglier after this year).
All downhill after 67. All VW can do now is keep bringing back the same old cars (Rabbit, how original!, how many GTi and Jetta generation of the SAME car can we see? Let's not forget the NEW Beetle.) Pure junk, overpriced Euro Junk at that... (sorry fellas, but newsflash, there's better cars for the money..).
Bugatti? Small deviation from PEOPLE car isn't it? (Because I see them driving around everywhere by normal people...). It's so far from standard deviation that it's not even in the realm of being mentioned. It's not like a Vette, where it's expensive, yes, but also (shocking!) popular!
I guess all things change, but VW is the only company that has actively tried to kill it's heritage (the grassroots ACVW'sers) and then at the same time sold out and brought back the NEW Beetle (jeez).
Look at Porsche, they've changed/adapted (droped the ACVW), but they have a huge loyal following, huge profits (biggest in the car industry/car). Because they're not going out and suing every TDL that thinks thier logo is cool. And, they throw their older car owners a bone or two (is that so hard for a multi billion dollar company to do once in a while?)
Sorry for the Rant, but I hate post 67 VW more than any other company out there. I would rather drive an American car than a 67+ VW (unless its' a Ghia..). They've deviated so much from the PEOPLE car (Volks..) that their name is an anachronism. Time for a name change, Bugatti sounds good to me.
For the record, I own a 52 Split and a 54 Barndoor and I've owned a bunch of droop nose Ghias... |

Good answer, to say the least.
I fell in love with VW by way of an '89 Fox, a car some VW purists don't even consider a VW, so there was no disapointing letdown from the AC days.
Being such a fan of tradition, you would think introducing a Rear engined VW would be a worthy step in the right direction of getting that lost soul back. But I can't say I'm sorry VW stopped building archaic vehicles. Put a '67 Bug in a dealership with an '07 badge and, well, you would buy it. But you would pretty much be the only one. All things move forward, and old tech. gets left behind.
The Rabbit wasn't original? I'm talking 1st gen. Golf here. That car was iconic. |
