Stereo Installation courses - Click HERE for Original Thread

Honda_Finatic
I have no idea where to start when installing a deck/subs/amp etc. Anybody know where they offer courses that specifically focus on car audio installation? I checked Nait, but it looks like they don't offer it. For those of you who know how, where did you learn how to do it?

fugumerkur
this would be a start

There is quite a wealth of information on the internet.

are you interested in fabrication of boxes as well, fibreglassing and the show stuff?

hell if you just want ot learn a deck install I can teach you that. I have done a few

Best way to learn is to get someone infront of you showing you how to do it. My brother showed me and I have installed countless systems in vairious vehicles.

The way I learned was I bought a deck, and figured out how to install it. But I had an old beater to work with, so i had nothing to lose. :dunno:

The only car audio courses availible to the best of my knowledge is Mobile Dynamics that offers courses out of Toronto and Phoenix. There is also the DEI Snake Pit in San Diego. Both of these courses are very indepth and go far and above just deck and amp installs. If you want to learn how to do the basics than like the others said, you need to find someone who KNOWS how to do this PROPERLY and learn from them.

Good fun always comes from installing a deck in a car that someone else screwed up horribly on, finding what wires work and do not work.!

I have done that once!

yea mobile dynamics isn't the best, best thing to do is get on with a small shop and basicly learn there, thats how i learned, also did a mobile dynamics course and got my MECP certification

but thats the best thing to do

fugumerkur
so I guess for Stereo advice Shawley, I would definitely be looking you up!

I dont put much stock in my MECP training. My practical experience has much more value to me than MECP training, but thats just my opinion.

definitly

thats why i'm glad i didn't spend the fucking 8 to 10 grand to go to the 2 month school for it, plus cost of living

i learned way more from hands on just working than i did from the course

but then again theres alot of things i learned thru the course that are helpfull
