I want to buy some new rims this spring, but there is a dilemma to my choosing of rims.
I want them to be lite so I can use them all round and use them for auto-x for there liteness.
Would you either get?
17x7 rim weight of 14.1 lbs. each. But you DO NOT like the design of the rim that you want specifically on your car;
OR
17x7 rim weight or 19.2 lbs. each. But is EXACTLLY what you want in the design and look of the rim on your car?
Also will you see a super difference in the performance in regular driving and auto-x? Thanks |

for the lude
but i was thinking along the lines of a 5 spoke.
the ones I WANT 19.2 lbs are the Enkei EVO5 Wheels in Hyper silver, but the light ones that are a bit cheaper are either Speedy or Rota rims in 5 spoke. |

It's a joke about the guy with 65lb tires. It was the only way I figured you could get tires that heavy. |

| I wouldn't buy wheels you don't like just because they are a few pounds lighter. 99% of the time in normal city driving it won't make a difference so you might as well ride on the wheels you think look better. |

1. you will see a HUGE difference between the two wheels
2. for auto-x look for something smaller try a 15x8 (it could weigh 19.2 pounds and still outperform the 14.1 lb 17" rim)
3. do you really want your car to look bad??? maybe as a comprimise get your rims in a 16" |

| Ha-ha ok thanks guys...well I guess I will go with the ones that will look good on the car IMO, I thinking of getting Enkei EVO5 Wheels, and if I’m willing to spend money; get the best of both worlds VOLK RACING TE37, baby :thumbup: |

| Idealy if you are a serious auto-x competitor, get yourself two sets of wheels and tires. Good looking for street driving (99% of the time) and whatever light wheels you can find for auto-x no matter how ugly they look. |

First decide what width tire you want to buy. Then see what the smallest diameter wheel you need to get that tire width. The lighter the better as long as it clears your brakes.
For example, if you want a 245 tire width, you are going to have trouble finding anything in 15", the selection improves with 16" and improves further with 17".
My light and ugly set of wheels are 16X8 and I'd like to put a 255/40/16 or a 265/40/16 if they were 16X9. No one makes these sizes though so I run 245/45/16. |
