Mobius
Tape nails to it, points facing out. Then start beating on it with a hammer. Also a good way to get the Darwinism award.

DO NOT MESS WITH THE AIRBAGS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!

What are you trying to acheive, post a couple more details and we'll help you do what your trying to do without removing the airbag cover.!!
DON"T MESS WITH AIRBAGS AT ALL.!!

ChromeDragon
Step 1: find solid object
Step 2: drive car into said object
Step 3: remove airbag cover from deployed airbag

try and jack off the passenger side airbag cover and your going to get busted in the chops REAL good. What do you think holds the air bag in my friend.

Cheers

In all seriousness, for your safety, do not take it off yourself. Take it to a dealership and see what they will do. Taking it off yourself is a first class ticket to the hospital. :)

Ummmmm, no. There is nothing "Holding In" an airbag. It works when an electrical current triggers an extremely fast chemical reaction that produces a gas, which thereby fills the "airbag" and attempts to save your life.

I was gonna say the same thing.. lol.. If you want to remove it to use a block off tray or something it IS illegal to modify or remove any safety device.

1. Unplug the airbag connector so none of them deploy. It's yellow wiring and the connector is yellow.
2. You need access to the back, so take the glovebox out. Some dashes you have to acually partially remove to get behind. There will be 4 or more nuts holding a metal "cradle" that hold the air bag and you must take it out, you can't just take the cover off.
3. Reassemble everything and plug the airbag back in LAST.

Yes, it scares me that he did not mention that. Disconnect the battery and let the car sit for a little while before starting.

If you in any way don't know what your doing don't do it yourself. Air bags are nothing to play around with...

dont paint airbag covers,it will really hurt to get paint splinters in the eyes at 1500 miles per hour.plus painted interiors are kinda done as a fad unless you like the fat idiot on unique whips.we get people wanting it done at our shop all of the time when we do custom consoles and mold in video units and want to color code a bunch of interior stuff and it is cheesy,if you just want to remove it to put in a playstation or something like that or gauges,it is illegal to remove an airbag ,period.
