Having your car broken in to once is a bad day. Having your car broken in to twice and stolen all in the same weekend is just hell.
Hear is the story! I live at homburg in clariview. On Friday night someone got in to the card locked underground park aid. Through 2 pass card doors with a security guard on duty. They broken in to my Nissan Silvia and stole a RSR bushing kit (uninstalled) a JIC strut tower and some washer fluid. I found this out when I went to dinner with my GF and noticed the dust on the car had been upset. I was pissed but I figured that i was partly to blame because i left the stuff in the back seat.
Sunday at 10:30 I received a call from Beaumont RCMP informing me that my car was stopped on the Highway with 2 people inside. The people stated that i had lent them the car. However the cop did not believe them as the Steering column was hanging out and no plates were on the car. I car was in storage, the Battery was empty and the kill switch was off. The cops told me that there was a second battery in the truck wired up. SO my best guess is the same people who broke in Friday, came back with a battery and some big (kahunas), spent the time to rewire the ignition and kill switch.
What most upsets me is that i pay $50 per month to park in the park aid because it is secure. There was a guard on duty. Where was he?? It's not like the car just started or that it was parked i a dark back alley??
Sorry guys i just had to tell you about the weekend from hell. I will Know more later. |

That sucks to hear.
While the security dropped the ball, its nice to know that the RCMP were doing their job.
So are you getting your car back? Are the felons getting charged?
I'd definitely be talking to your apartment building manager. |

| The people that own that "secure" parking lot better be covering costs for the break-ins. And hopefully the crackheads that stole your car are raped profusely, violently and repeatedly in prison. |

That sucks so bad.
I would assume the company that provides the underground parking would cover the costs as they dropped the ball big time. Maybe it was an inside job with the security guard? Beat the hell out of him just to be sure. |

Probably charged with Joyriding = fuck all slap on the wrist.
Even if they get charged with theft over $1000, they will plea down.

Every parkade I've ever been in has disclaimers on the wall saying they're not liable for theft. |

What's the point of even parking underground if they don't take responsibility for a service that you pay them to provide. The security guard could hold a block party down there and trash all of the cars and just say 'Not my fault, the sign says so'. |

keep us updated man
shitty deal |

difference is most of those parkades that have a disclaimer arent guarded, his probably does have that disclaimer seeing as there is a guard on duty, they must be responsible for something....

Quick Up date.
I picked up the silvia last night from the cliffs towing year in leduc.
Cliffs did more damage to the car then the guy who stole it!
The ignition is Broken out, as should be expected, and the car is having trouble boosting more the 11psi. The front bumper is cracked from towing the car. The rear bumper is also scratched. My Car has a nasty wheel shake over 70kmh now which was not there before. The window was left wide open and the car filled with snow. there was power just cliffs driver was to lazy to push the swich to roll it up. 381.00 for snow to fill my car, wow thanks!
There is not disclamer in my parkaid. the guard was a temp, as the regular quit this week. The guys must have had alot of time with the car to get it running, as they by passed my kill switch and removed my JDM alarm( no remote so useless). |

Exactly, but then the guard gets fired. Here's how it works:
The people who own the lot don't hire and pay the guard. They contract out security. The company that's been contracted hires and pays the guard, who's licenced by Alberta Justice. Most "secure underground parking" places don't put up signs if they're month-to-month only, since all users will have signed a written agreement. If the guard screws up, he might lose his job. The company doesn't want to hire incompetent guards, because when they screw up, they might lose the contract.
They will accept no responsibility for the stuff you left in the back seat, like you said you shouldn't have left it there and everyone knows not to do it, it sucks but live and learn and I'm glad you accepted resposnibility for that. Shows a level of maturity not often seen on these forums when this kinda stuff happens.
Usually they won't cover the car being stolen. Basically, you pay for the illusion of security. There's no such thing as security. Even the Pentagon or Fort Knox can be broken into with the right people, equipment and planning. It's always an illusion. You hope criminals don't come in because it looks hard to do.
Now, they got past 2 locked doors you say. That's interesting. And they had time to wire it up. Also interesting. Seems to me they either know you, or they live in the building and saw you leave. That explains how they got through the doors, and if the guard approached them, they can just show their key cards and say they're trying to get their own car working. If they're allowed to be inside the facility, there's nothing the guard can do. He can't ask for ID, or for the registration in the car or anything, because he's not a cop. Nor can he call the cops because they aren't trespassing and he has no reasonable cause, unless he knew you and that it wasn't their car.
That's the problem you get into. If there's no cameras in the lot, you're SOL. There might be a chance the lot owners will chip in on the damages either as a sign of good faith or because their contract sucks, but in most cases, they're pretty well covered and they'll tell you that's what your insurance is for.
I'd change lots though. Whoever stole your car knows it's insides pretty well and since they probably also use that lot they can steal it even faster next time.
Glad you got it back though. Sucks it's in a bad way. |

And THAT is why having a car towed and/or impounded is one of my worst nightmares. Towing company staff have zero respect for people's property.

Shitty to hear man.
What side of Clairview did this happen in? Close to any major stores?
I can pretty much guarantee it was a) Someone you know, b) Someone who lives in the complex, or c) Security guards friends.
Hope you get everything sorted out ASAP.
Did you have fire and theft on the car? |

Thanks guys
You are all to nice, it's nice to know some people care.
AMA has been great to deal with so far.
I am looking at a new bumber, fixing the wheels and finding out why i can't boost over 7hkg, and a new key switch.
THis could have been alot worse.
DTJOHNST- i guess with age comes understanding. I'm one of the older guys i guess on this site at 26. Thanks for your advice. great write up. |

They could not have goten past the doors with legit key cards because all computer systems track when where and what cards were threw the door system.
So see if the security guard checked the record, odds are maybe 10 people went threw there around the time your car was stolen and if thats the case theres a good point to start for whos responsible for letting those guys in.
The security guard isent really to blame, he does a patrol every hour or half hour (depends how big the place is) pulls on all the doors in the place to check if thier locked at the start and end of his shift and thats about all he or she can do. |

Sounds like you might know a thing or two about stealing cars from underground parking...You didn't work at that shop down from 23rd ave did you?
feiro TyPe s-Sorry to hear about the car man...Having your car towed is sketchy, let alone if your not around to keep the driver inline. |
