Maybe OT: How many Detailers here? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Just wondering what you guys make on a monthly basis (if it's not too personal). Do you get a salary? I'm needing a change of environment. I'm currently supervisor in a shop, but I want to do something different for a change. I thought Detailing might be interesting. I have no real experience, but would be very willling to learn. Also, do you guys make some money on the side, detailing cars in your garage, etc? I would imagine it would be a plus to say that you do it for a living. Do you guys get lots of people right now in the winter time? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm interested.:)
Thanks,

JB

I detailed for about 3 years, mainly high-end and exotic cars.Unless you own your own shop, it is hard to make really good money. Some shop's are peace work so you are able to determine how much you make. With that said there is only so much work you can do in a day if you are doing quality jobs.

It's not a bad job at all but I have not seen many that pay more than $10-$12hr and many are still payin around 9ish when I started doing it I made $60 a day ($7.50x8) which is about how much time and money I am going to spend on my own car IF and when spring happens...BAH.

I did it for 5 years and I found that it's takes a little while to become passionate about it but once you do and it only takes a few higher end cars to do it, it's a job you wake up looking forward too.

It can become one of those job's that you will never forget...like now I really miss it and the skills I got outta it has been transferable into some of my more current job's, Like car hauling was a shoe in for me since I not only knew many people in biz I was already trained and familiar with everything to do with it.
