putting 22's on 05 Acura tl - Click HERE for Original Thread

killaCam
seen it on cardomain does anyone know if u have to do anything to the car for it to fit or just get super thin tires???

JonJonPoPong
I think you should go with 19s at the most.
Its a family sedan not a escalade and escalades are played out anyways.

i want to do that because i was gonna put 20's on it but if i can fit 22's why not....go check out the TL on 22's on car domain... and tell me it doesnt look good.......so does anybody know??

Can't Stop Spin
will you be able to get a high enough load rating with 22's?

also, post up a link so we can look this monstrosity

Can't Stop Spin
are you talking about this car?

sure hope you don't ever hit a pot hole. Plus it looks like shit imo

Texmex
mabey he cut out the wheel wheels, cause how could you turn with out scraping.

BigTrucker
Wheels that big with tires that small will ride great on Edmonton streets. Pot holes will own you.

But think of the handling with no sidewall! He'd be like Lightning McQueen!!!.......if he could steer the wheel and hack controlling the throttle while dealing with the shakes from the rough ride.

Cachow!!!

killaCam
hahahah Can't Stop Spin...your car doesnt even match up to that car...so step your game up then speak

DowntownFocus
Do it that will look so good. 22's should be nor problem to fit in the huge wheel wells of that car. Talk with the right tire guy there is no reason that a good shop will not garrente the fit.

you're right, I bought the fastest car availale to canada under $45k when I bought mine. I know it's not a semi-luxury car. And I don't think it is.

I think the TL is a very nice car, but a TL with 22's looks like ass. You just ruined a very nice car.

By going to 22's, you're not any sacrificing ride, but handling, durability of suspension components, acceleration/braking and safety. You hit any good sized pot hole, chances are very good you're going to bend your rim, which makes the car very unsafe until it's on the back of a tow truck.

X2

And it may look good in a car show, but it is stupid for a daily driver. And it doesn't matter if someone drives a pinto, they can still say something looks like shit.

ahhhhhhhhh calvin, you just hurt me.

but it's ture that having big size rims are pain in the ass for daily driver.
BUT, i'm not giving up my 19s". :D

to OP,
do whatever you like to do. to me, rim size doesn't matter(there are limits though), as long as the design of the wheel goes along with the car.

SilverZ24
^ lol It is actually less the size of the wheel and more the size (or lack there of) of the rubber. 19's are fine on an E46 and same with the TL, even 20's would be okay, but 22's are just way to big. Look at the rubber on that pic. 22's on a 300 isn't as bad for instance because they have the room to still put some decent tires on them.

they trick is to go to staples pick up a pack of extra large black elastic bands and go wild

It's both. The weight of the wheels is a factor. But the rubber is also very important. By using wheels that mandate a very low profile tire is just stupid and unsafe. You have virtually no flexibility in the sidewall. Like was mentioned, potholes will fubar both those rims and tires. As well as any curbing you may happen to do. Also, with low profile tires, you cannot visually see if the pressure is low or not, and driving on underinflated tires is hazardous.

The only benefit to having low profile tires is the sidewall rigidity. However, I doubt you'll be taking your TL to any Autocross or Road Racing events, and you should not be driving that aggressively on the streets, so that point is moot.

EDISKRAD EHT
If you want to do it, do it. A bunch of people told me not to go with 19's on my car but I did it anyway, and I love it. Looks awesome.

BTW though. My ride is shit and I have to get at least 1-2 rims fixed every season from potholes. So I guess you just have to consider if it's worth it or not.;)

EK9Hatch
If it was my car I would go with 20's max. 20's will fill the wheel weels pretty good, but should still leave you with at least a 30-35 series tire.

What are the stock rims and tire sizes on a TL?

Jamie

Britain
It looks good, but they will bend easily and your supension will wear.

If you dont drive badly and go slow then you might be able to pull it off.. Just drive slow and take turns slow! Also, you might have to pull out the wheel well liner which exposes some parts that shouldnt otherwise be exposed!

EDISKRAD EHT
If you have to modify anything don't do it.

stealth
In my honest opinion it looks really nice.

But driving will just be a hassle.

My car has rims that are flush to the fenders, and I hate small bumps and dips in the roads. My tires just get eaten up. When I make u-turns or sharp turns my front and rear wheels rub.

It gets really annoying fast.

DeathBy240
Fuck man if you're gonna go big, go with 26s.
