nice red x!

If that's a Russian McDonalds, why are the McDonalds letters in the English alphabet? Russians use a different alphabet..........

dtjohnst
And there's a video camera. Russia is too poor to afford video cameras, unless it's for the military. :p

I wonder if they got any McD's for the horse? Imagine the McFarts and the McGurggles that'd come out of something that big?

That was when McD's first came to communist Russia, so it was a big deal. I don't know about wine and steak, but Mcdonalds in Spain served beer

onestepback
When Mcdonalds first opened in Kuwait, the drive thru line was over a mile long.

The McDonalds in Russia is actually like a sit down restaurant where you get like a server and everything. I know this cuz I was born there. Also, the quality of meat they used was way better than what we get here. And also Russia does have video cameras, they are actually have better and more developed electronics there than we do.

You know whats funny, some places that we consider underdeveloped are actually more developed or as equally developed as Canada.

dtjohnst
Yeah, dude, I wasn't serious that I thought Russia didn't have video cameras. It was a joke......you know......because the guys are on horseback. I'm aware that after the cold war ended the Russian economy REALLY recovered. Ukraine is still kinda poor, my ex visits there every summer and tells me how it's slowly getting better but it's still really hard for people to afford to buy food even if they live in dumps.

Russia is one of the most developed countries in the world now. If they weren't, they wouldn't be speaking up with China in telling the US they aren't very fond of their imperialist expansions.

Some parts of the Ukraine have money, some parts are still incredibly poor. I have relatives living in a town in Northern Ukraine called Chortkiv, and they couldn't afford power untill about a dozen years ago. If you're in Kiev or any of the big cities it's just like a western European city, just a bit dirtier in parts and a different language/currency.

I've been though a MickyDee's in a shopping cart!

Naa, MickyDee's in Japan are basicly the same as here except the food is fresher and the service as very good. Guys in shirt and tie and the girls wear blouse, skirts and heels. They have more flavors of pop (like melon), they don't make the McChicken but they have Fish McDippers. They are like Filet'o'Fish patty but small "nugget' size.

I call bullshit. That shithole broke 2nd world country doesn't have better beef then we us here at McD's. Countries where you have to wait in line to get milk and bread don't work like that.

And what special advanced electronics do Russians get that we don't? Some special magic TV's we don't know about or maybe they have something more advanced then Bluray and HD DVD.

Since when was any member of the G8 a "2nd world country"?

Not to mention that Russia has the 9th largest economy in the world, and is expected to become the 6th largest in the world and the 2nd largest in Europe in just a few more years.

Russia's national debt is $1.8billion US. Compared to Canada who's been hovering just below $500 billion US. To put it in perspective, we pay 23 and 1/3 times the Russian debt EVERY YEAR in interest. And Russia plans to have theirs completely paid off by March. No debt! Period! Quite a feat for a "2nd world" nation.

Russia abandoned it's "planned economy" when communism collapsed, thereby removing it from the classification of "2nd world". Not to mention the different between "1st World" and "2nd World" has nothing to do with the state of their economies but merely how their economies work. "1st World" are countries using a market economy, in other words, capitalism. "2nd World" are countries using a planned economy, in other words communism. And "3rd World" are countries that are currently developing their economies. It has nothing to do with "classes", where one is better than the other.

Ireland has a higher GDP than the US. Does that mean Ireland is more of 1st World Country then the US? Qatar also outranks the US. The US and Japan outrank Canada, are we 2nd World by your logic?

The Russian military now lags a mere 200,000 troops behind the US. That can't be done without a large, stable economy.

You should go visit Russia, their depression is over. It's the outlying regions that are still hurting, but if you recall, the Soviet Union collapsed, it no longer exists, and therefore, those outlying regions belong to smaller, independent nations now. Russia itself is doing just fine.

Let's start at the top of your pyramid of lies and retarded logic shall we. Of course it has a large economy, it's the largest country in the world with the 8th largest population and has a ton of both oil and natural gas. Even with all of these resources however, it has a pitiful gdp per capita of 5,349 ( a much more useful number in defining a countries standard of living than the size of its economy), behind countries such as Botswana, Libya, Equitorial Guinea and Poland and drastically behind the countries you list (Qatar and Ireland). China's army is way larger than the states, however the states would still destroy them in any battle, the reason of course is the technology, and on this front no one nears the states, nowadays troop numbers are secondary to military technology. North Korea also has a larger active troop force than Russia, and we all know how great their economy is (1,400 gdp per capita), so don't feed us bullshit that a stable and large economy is necessary for a large troop count, look at China as another example. Russia is still a backwards shithole that's ruled by a corrupt dictator, and you and a few other people should maybe open a book or two before you run your mouth about shit you obviously don't know much about.

Says the man who called them a "2nd world nation". How about your crack a book?

Dictator huh? Elections every 4 years, if the president is unable to fulfill his duties for whatever reason, a new electrion must occur within 3 months.....as opposed to us where someone who was "appointed" takes over. So....we're more a dictatorship than they are. Not to mention our PM has more control over our country than the US president does over the US.

The GDP per capita is not $5,349 US. Are your books from 1985? Try $12,100. Not to mention based on US definitions. Which I admit, isn't "staggering", but like you said, they're the largest country in the world with an insanely high population. If you divide Bill Gates' income amongst ALL employees of Microsoft, he's not so rich anymore. Does that mean his company is "poor"? Only 17.8% of Russia lives below the poverty line. Canada has 15.9%. That's not a hugely significant difference.

The GDP of Canada is $1.165trillion US. Russia's is $.1723trillion US. And the most important economic figure to look at, is GDP rate of growth. 2.2% here in Canada, 6.6% in Russia, and that's the first time in 10 years that Russia's growth has been below 10%. That's hard to do while living in the "depression" you seem to think they're suffering through. And before you tell me to go get a better book, it's called the CIA factbook, widely regarded as on of the most accurate sources of information on countries, governments, economies and militaries.

They have the 3rd largest monetary RESERVES in the world. That means money available to spend....that they don't know what to spend it on.

Is Russia perfect? No. Not at all. I'm not saying Russia is better than anywhere, I'm just saying it's not a backwards, "2nd world" nation where people are starving, as you claimed. As I've stated, you're thinking of the outlying nations. Like Chechnya and the Ukraine. But given your old figures, perhaps your book is prior to the collapse of the USSR.

If you think the US could roll over China, you're sadly mistaken. Technological strength is a factor, I don't deny it. But it's not the be all to end all. China has over twice the manpower, and while their land forces are poorly equipped and trained, their air force is pretty good, with latest Mig and Eurofighter technology. I'm not saying China could whip the US, but the US population would revolt and overthrow the government due to the staggering losses of American lives long before they had even put a dent in China.

Go serve in the military and read a book or two about strategy and tactics before you sing the praises of the US military. Their average soldier has the latest technology but very little in terms of training (compared to the modern world I mean here). Imagine your machine gunner, the most critical part of your section, get's killed. As the most vital support weapon, it has to be manned, so someone slides over and picks it up. In Canada, everyone, even a clerk, can handle a machine gun carried in a section. In the US, only machine gunners by trade have been trained in it. A rifleman can't step over and pick it up and use it effectively unless he learned on his on outside of official military training.

No matter what you argue, you're going to look like a retard because you called Russia a second world nation and act like they're still stuck in their depression, both of which are completely false. Now go away.

Zed
When did I ever say anything about the 2nd world exactly? Seriously, did I use the words second in any of my posts before this one, don't fucking think I did, and here's the link I used for GDP, from 2005 not 1985. And Putin has consoliated his power so much, will probably try to change the laws so he can get elected mroe than twice and has everyone who could possibly thwart his power in his back pocket. Freedom house lists Russia as a NOT FREE country, despite its democratic facade.

I assumed black SRT4 was responding in his defense.

Wikipedia, real reliable source. I hear the population of African Elephants has doubled in the last 6 months there.

Although I have seen that same list of GDP of nations per capita elsewhere. Where do you think I got Qatar from? I sure as hell don't know anyone in Qatar.

Regardless, go to Russia. People aren't "waiting in line" for bread, their depression is over, and Moscow is EXTREMELY advanced, despite being the center of human trafficking in the world.

Russian's economy is stable and growing. Their unemployment rate is similar to ours, and their stores bake enough bread for everyone that they aren't waiting in line.

I never claimed it was the largest, most well to do nation in the world, but I refuting Black SRT4's claim it was backwards, and people lived in squalar. As such, my claims remain valid. Korea isn't backwards and full of people living in squalar even. His description in Russia doesn't apply there either.

So I think when you take my remarks in the context they were made, we agree.
