This comes from huge arguments at work over this Topic. _I'm sure that there are some of you here that are totally into the art of speeding:)!

Here is the questions, are radar jammers legal in Alberta?

What's a radar jammer?

And who cares if it's legal  <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

Well, it doesn't jam the radar so to speak, but it confuses it.

All this device does is send out radar and laser signals/light so when the radar gun is triggered by El Policia' what they'll get back is a garbled reading or extremely reduced range.

I'n not too sure about it's effectiveness though.

wasnt there an article on how dark colored vehicles (dark green) can "confuse" the radar guns? sumting about dark colors absorb the stirke of the laser or sth like that....

GirlRacer P1
I do not see how a car's color can make any difference on radar...

Liroy
um its fairly simple to see, simple physics.  Light isnt reflected as easily off darker colors, obviously since we see it darker.  Why do you think the stealth fighter is a dull black color?

What about rust?  That must mean my car is totally blind to radar!  <!--emo&:p--><img src="http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'><!--endemo-->

Haha, I htink I remember that article in an old issue of Car and Driver.

They tested a laser gun and a radar gun on different colors and found that black had the lowest range of all the colors.

Another way to combat laser is to buy bigass foglights, a pair of Infra Red pass only light filters, clip them on your fogs, tada, semi-guarenteed to cripple the range of lasers.

I know the stealth fighters are black but I heard that that color is not actually the best for radar stealth. The government just wanted to make it "look" stealthy. But that was in Popular Mechanics....could be wrong.

Anyways.....My friend had a pair of jammers on his car and he said they worked great. I'm still contemplating whether I should pick up a pair or not.

BlueTurboEGG
It wasn't the color that made it stealthy, it was that multi-million dollar coating that made it stealth.

But in terms of laser light, yes, color does matter since laser is a form of light, right?.

Since every policia' is using laser and pretty much no more radar guns, it's a relatively safe bet.

Did a search on jammers to see if they worth have in your car and i found this link

It makes sense and I agree with him 100%.  My schooling has taught me a lot about this sh*t.  I think these jammers would be garbage.   Just me opinion though.......

Hey guys

Just wondering what kind of detectors everyone is using? Do you guys think some brands work better than others?

I got a Valentine 1, it works great. Too much money though. <!--emo&???--><img src="http://asianet.ca/images/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'><!--endemo-->

Isn't the Passport rated the best?, better than the V1?...
