engine bay wash - Click HERE for Original Thread

i want to wash my engine bay but im not to sure what to wash it with.. some people say hand wash others say use the car wash and pressure wash it what do u think? and what is the best cleaner?

go to canadian tire and buy simple green, its only 7 bucks.....lightly spray engine with water, then spray simple green, next let it sit for 15 mins, then rinse....always worked good for me....

Do it by hand. Those pressure washers can sometimes spray too much water/force it into areas you don't want it to go.

I learned my lesson when I pressure washed my engine bay and it started throwing CEL's.

Got squeaky clean car wash and use the engine cleaner. Go around the engine bay with a small brish for a few min and wash with the hot water rinse. I did that on my crx (has OIL everywhere) and it worked great. Hold the wand away from the engie though..cause they have alot of rpessure there..

That's how I do it but I'm usually Hammered by the time i'm finished with the car.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

well i went to the car wash and used the simple green it worked great.. next time when i want to be hammered ill do it by hand. once it needs to look pretty for the summer!:p

I use orange engine cleaner the one's without citrus stink lol

cover your battery, alternator and dist cap

spray the cleaner let it soak for a bit, then use the engine cleaner from hughes and then rinse it works great for me

I ran out of engine cleaner half way through the job, so I finished up with oven cleaner!!
worked good

I use engine clear to keep my shoes white.


Dont laugh, it works amazingly.
