Just a heads up: an upgrade to Vista voids the XP number.

Interesting. That doesn't leave the legitimate Microsoft customer much room to uninstall should they decide they don't like Vista.

I suppose that's typical of MS's monopolistic behavior. (is that a word?)

There is a work around for it. But something tells me you want a valid, legal copy....otherwise you would just torrent XP instead of asking for a legal copy.

Well I've been told that you won't be able to do updates without a valid key and I don't want to deal with the hassle of having to reinstall other versions later on. I just want it to work with no BS like my laptop always has.
