Just a heads up: an upgrade to Vista voids the XP number. |

Interesting. That doesn't leave the legitimate Microsoft customer much room to uninstall should they decide they don't like Vista.
I suppose that's typical of MS's monopolistic behavior. (is that a word?) |

If not, it should be. I accept your invention.
EDIT: Microsoft EULA here http://download.microsoft.com/docum...0621bddb153.pdf
Check para 13.
quote: 13. UPGRADES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligiblefor the upgrade. Upon upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software you upgraded from. After you upgrade, you may no longer use the software you upgraded from.
There is a work around for it. But something tells me you want a valid, legal copy....otherwise you would just torrent XP instead of asking for a legal copy. |

| Well I've been told that you won't be able to do updates without a valid key and I don't want to deal with the hassle of having to reinstall other versions later on. I just want it to work with no BS like my laptop always has. |
