| Hey i'm a total newb when it comes to car audio so i need some help. I have a car with 2 tweeters and 4 component speakers with a factory deck and was told i need an amp to run them. so does this mean that i need a 4 channel amp? also i have an alpine HU siting here with a built in amp so could that work and save me the money of buying a whole new amp? if this makes any sense please post thanks guys |

K your post makes zero sense too me. Try pushing enter occasionly... With that said..
If your running components (Midbas + Tweeter) then your going to have 4 speakers. Tweeters on both sides and mid bass on both sides..
You have two options. You can run Active requiring 4 channels but since your asking this question i wouldnt recommend it.
So your other option is passive which you would only require a two channel amp. One channel feeds the left and is split at the crossover and the same goes for the right.
EDIT: Reguarding the HU. A a general rule Headunits dont put out enough power to run decent speakers. I dont know your setup or your ears.. You might get away with it. |

let say a 96-00civic, which have 2x tweeter and 6.5 and 6x9
the front, 6.5 and the tweeter, you should get component.
the rear, usually for bass don't need component.
I am planning the same thing.
I am getting a 4 channel amp, 2 for the front, 2 for the rear.
dunno if it is right, if someone can clearify |

OK, here is the quick low down for you.
1st I am assuming by your post that you mean you have a set of tweeters up front, a speaker in each front door and a pair of speakers in the rear somewhere, either back doors or back dash. If thats the case then you actually have 2 pairs of speakers, just one pair are components and the others are either a coaxial or just a driver.
2nd Provided that the first thing I listed is indeed what you have, than you have 2 options. You CAN use a deck to run the 2 sets of speakers or you can use a 4 channel amp to run the speakers and just use the deck as a source unit.
3rd if the speakers are Factory than you can use the Alpine deck with no issues as the factory speakers dont need much power to run and generally suck anyways, although if you dont have high expectations than those will probally be met. If the speakers are aftermarket than I suggest you run an amp. You do not need to, but they will sound much better with an amp as they will have the nessasary power needed to run to the best of their ability.
4th the last issue is that since you didnt post the type of vehicle its impossible for me to know if it is factory amplified. If it is than that can change things drasticlly or could not change a damn thing. Please reply with the car make model and year as well as if it is equiped with any type of upgraded sound system (ie monsoon, Bose, premium system etc etc etc).
There is the nutshell for what you asked using the provided information. Post the rest of the info and I can give you a more complete answer. |

hey thanks so much it's a 2004 subaru sti i just got it and was told both pairs of speakers are component.
he had an after market system but i'm guessing pulled the amps and left the stock stereo.
if i can get away with just using my Alpine CDA-9857 i would be happy as i don't really car about quality i just need something to listen to. |
