I was just checking the schedule for castrol this year and there is a ton of brackteer days. I have never been to a bracket race, but I was curious if anyone can enter them? Im guessing they dont have an import class because there isnt enough demand, but I could be wrong.
Anyone bracket raced their imports? |

minimum as in you must run at least a 13.9 or quicker. It's also held most often on Saturday's, but sometimes Sunday's as well
here is the email I got from castrol when I inquired about the bracketeer racing days.
The rules for the weekend event are the same as in previous years you need slicks, and to be able to run quicker then a 13.9. The rest is as per the IHRA rulebook.

Thanks Cant Stop Spin.
I like the idea of heads up but I figured some bracket racing would be a great chance to get some more track time in. Unfortunately I wouldnt be able to make every race due to work schedule conflictions, but I would like to go just to practice and have fun. |

I asked them if a civic was allowed. the lady said as long as its faster than 13.99.

I guess for some reason the bunny doesn't command much respect from the gate people who take your money for the tech card.
They aren't used to seeing cars drive up under their own power, let alone bolt on the slicks and run low 11's. Then put the street tires back on the front and drive out. :)
I don't think the bunny will have much trouble being able to participate this year.
A note for AWD cars, as long as you are on an R compound they will let you run, talk to Phil if you get any hassle.
The track staff are still at the begining of the learning curve with dealing with sport compacts. |

Yeah, it was a huge hassle. The girl at the gate just tried charging me for 2 spectators, and I said "1 driver, and 1 spectator", and she said "you can't run that car", I said "why not", she said "because you can't", I said "why can't I?" she said "quit asking me why you can't run, you just can't!!" wtf? I said "What do you want me to say?, I want to know WHY I CAN'T run this car, give me the reason!". She said "You can only run """"THOSE TYPES"""" of cars on friday nights. I said "that isn't an acceptable reason". She said "Go to tech, and see if they'll let you run, because I know they wont". I had to drive to tech, and "Get permission" before she'd accept my money. Then I got to tech, and said "The gate chick said to come ask you if I can run before she'll allow me enter". The tech girl said "which car?" I said "this one", she said laughing "not a chance!". I said "why not?" she said "well do you have slicks?" I said "yes", she said "what does the car run?" I said "mid 11's", she said "Oh, yeah you can run then".... HAHA. It's just the track staff that are idiots. The other drivers were all really cool, and supportive of a fast import.
I think I was the ONLY car that drove to the track (not trailered) that day. They don't like that. |

Im more worried about passing tech. I have the rulebook here but i cant really find much for specifics for bracket racing, maybe im blind:dunno: I plan on going down there with the intent to race, if i dont pass tech, im just going to watch. Crossing my fingers that i pass though! |

where in the hell did you find the rule book? Think you can get your hands on another copy for me? I've looked at a few places in Edmonton, and they're either sold out, or don't carry them

| what the hell is this? i swear the majority of cars that go to meets can run under 14 seconds and they don't get towed in. Anything with at least 250whp should be more that capable of making it under that time. even 225whp should be able to make it under that time depending on the car. What kind of comp or race are these? |

I found one at prostock. I swore years ago, when they did a shit job rebuilding a small block chevy engine, that i would never go back there. However, i couldnt find the book anywhere else so i went there. It was nice to pay double what the book cover says(10 dollars) Typical Prostock:mad:
That was the last copy. It doesnt really tell you much anyway, it does show how to build your cage and whatnot. I could scan that for you if thats all you need. Shoot me a pm if interested.

| Well its just after 6:30 am and the weather looks like ass. Im still going to go down there though, just in case they are still racing. With my luck though it will be cancelled as soon as i make the drive from the far northeast :( |
