Alpine MRD-M500 Amp Question - Click HERE for Original Thread

Looking to purchase one but not sure if it would be enough to power 2 - 10" Infinity Subs. Will check into the Ohm rating later. If anyone has run two 10's off this sub, please post and let me know if worth picking up to maximize my BASSSSSSS!

Which series of infinity subs? They are a fairly effecient sub. If these are the perfects that FS had on sale than that amp will be fine as those subs are single 4 ohm and have a max RMS power handling of 350 watts, and that amp at 2 ohms should do a legit 580-600

RBS14.5
Screw that amp, buy mine it's a MRD-M1005. It should be more than enough power for them!!;)

The subs are the Infinity 1030W's. Have an RMS rating of 250W and run at 4 ohms.

Than that amp will be perfectly fine for you.

I ran two 12" alpine type r off one of those.....it was good enough but it is a single chanal amp so it would work best for a single sub. But like the other guy said the 1005 is a better and newer amp.

Ravendarat
That could be a very incorrect statement depending on the subs. For example in this case, that "single Channel" amp as you put it is optimized to run at 2 ohms, thats the lowest load you can put on the amp safely and thats when it will produce the most power. His subs are single voice coil and 4 ohms, so you wire them in paralell and run them to the single channel on the amp and you are set. If they were dual 4 ohm voice coils that would be a different story but your previous statement was to wide open to let go, dont want less experienced guys on the site thinking its that simple :)

Also the 1005 offers this particular person no advantage unless he plans on going bigger later. If he doesnt plan on upgrading then the 1005 would actually be a disadvantage as it has a bigger foot print and a larger idle draw.

So if this amp is listed for $200, and you guys are saying that ehy will run my current two subs, then I should pick it up? Or should I try for another amp?

Ravendarat
For 200 bucks its a good purchase and yes it will run your 2 subs to their fullest extent.

Spoke with an installer about the amp and what subs I have and he said that they will work but NOT to full potential. So I need an amp with 500 Watts RMS.
