Well my problem is...
I have a 90 rhd crx. it pretty much mint. Has 2 dents the size of a nickel, no rust and they want $7000 for a base coat clear coat stock paint with door jambs redone. I don't understand the cost being so high. The supplies are like $800 tops. I've painted a few cars and friend owns a paint shop in NS. It's retardly over priced here. |

uhm... it's not the supplies costing you the money, it's labour and skill that you are paying the big money for.
Also you stated that it isnt even ready for paint yet, so you have to pay for all the prep work also.
I dont know anyone that would do a nice clean job for less than a grand, thats just painting it, no other prep or body work. and thats not just here, thats everywhere.
Painters paint
autobody does bodywork
you need both and it isnt going to be cheap, unless you do it yourself. If your friend in NS has his own shop you would know that already.
want cheapo paintwork? take it to macco.....:dunno: |

I Had a few painted. I know what the actual supplies cost. I had my civic painted last year this time and it by fair not near this cost. I had show room quaility paint job on my civic. When I was at the shop I asked what the paint itself cost for the exact paint code i used on my civic. He told me it was $1300 a pint, I only paid $250 a pint for the same brand same paint code. I know it cost money for skill but back in Nova Scotia you could have a complete air brush job for pretty much the same cost. I'm not sure why the cost has such a gap. I paid $3000 for a roof swap, kit molded in and whole car blocked out, Glass pulled out and put in, kit urethane and seam sealed. The paint shops out here are making more profit of the job then it worth. The car has zero rust and 2 small dents. It's like $2500 cheap for me to ship my car to nova scotia paint it and ship it back, andstill have show room quaility job. I'm looking for a reasonaible cost shop that isn't out to rob you like the rest. I'm looking for something like $3-4000. Not some for a stock paint code being $7000 and with some gold pearl $9500. Pearl cost tops $100 exact and doesn't take any exact techique of painting.
That is my other car

Im looking to paint my 07 MS3 (Red) to something blue or black or dark grey. Since this car is only 6 months old I want a really good job.
What are some other shops to check out? Anyone know anything about the shops around lethbridge? They seem to have lots of automotive related shops there (im from fort mcmurray). |

You are better off selling it and getting it in the colour that you want.
To do a complete colour change (engine bay, door jams, etc...) is well over $5000. |

I can't find anything under 7000 without a color change and factor paint |

Then you must look like a sucker when you walk into places.
Go see the Graham at Cougar - he's reasonable and they seem to tailor the job to the price. |

| No, I know what I'm talking about, my best friend owns a paint shop and I've help with about 10 as well as my other car. The shop is just half baked. I'm driving it back to NS and having it painted in june. It's $3000 cheaper to ship it both ways and have it painted with show quaility unless i find a half decently priced shop that does good work, somewhere in the 3000 range. |
