That's a question the Admin will have to look into.
Moderators can't change PM box sizes. |
|
|
| arabian_ryda |
| i not asking for size just a meter like beyond has to tell u how much space u have left. i see a new thread go up everyday someone asking another member to clear there box. not everyone can delet every message they have. |

| i thought it was 125 max |

Well moderators can't add a PM meter either.
It's an Admin function and probably requires custom scripting. |

Terry, I'll take this up with Kenny again.
My understanding is that the meter helps, but really doesn't resolve "Empty your PMs!" posts. |

ya it would not 100% but a good bit for something so little. |

When my inbox was full, I received an error in the e-mail I signed up with that my inbox was full.
If that's an automatic feature everyone has, no one needs to be warned their inbox is full as a bounced message will tell them it's full and who sent the message that bounced so they can get back to them. |

Then take advantage of the option in your control panel. It really works. You get an email saying that "randomusername" has tried to send you a private message but your message box is full. That way you at least know who tried to get ahold of you so you can respond if you want.
I think it's easier for individual users to check off a box in their control panel than it is to change code on the board.
You guys all know that at the very bottom of the main forum page it tells you how many private messages you have as well as how many new private messages you have received since your last visit, right? |

Why design a new system when there's already an existing system to do what you're asking? Sure it's optional, so turn it on. Problem solved. |

No offense buddy but if you have the time and the know-how to do the coding for a PM meter, please go right ahead.
It's an option I'd like to see as well but it's quite obvious that your request has been taken into account already so what is the point in making remarks such as the above?
Sarcasm isn't going to get you anywhere, if anything, it'll leave you worse than you were to start with.
If you have so many important PMs that you must save every single one of them, then using E-Mail might be a better option as you can keep and archive your communications.
Tell you what, copy and paste all of your PMs that you cannot delete onto a Word document and save it.
Then clear out both your inbox AND your sent items folder.
Again, if your communications with forum members are so extensive that your PM box fills up very quickly, please use E-Mail.
Or maybe even set up a time to chat w/ someone on the java chat.
To be frank, whining and bitching isn't going to speed things up.
How about you spend your time providing us with some creative suggestions and solutions you feel can be implemented immediately?
Do some research on vBulletin coding, sign up on other forums that have PM meters and ask the admin what they have done.
Forward that information and any alternative solutions to 780Tuners.
Showing that kind of initiative will put MUCH more weight on coding up a PM meter than this last post of yours.
And if you aren't willing to do this, then a PM meter clearly isn't important enough. So then you'll just have to keep your posts to yourself after seeing that your original request has already been responded to.
