anyone know what type of heads are good for a 2V 4.6 for a mustang?
i've seen a few just advertised in magazines but not sure which ones are good. thought about a set from ford racing but they come with stock valvetrain and cams. so thats a no go.

anyone have any ideas? :dunno:

I would google Mustang forums and take it from there. You should be able to find lots of useful info.

Your car has the non-PI heads, which are as bad as they get for mods. A set of ported PI heads/intake/cams is a fairly drop in affair, and would net you a lot more power. With full boltons 280-290 RWHP isn't out of the ordinary. If you want to go even bigger, a set of 3V or even 4V heads will bolt up with a few different parts (front covers, tensioners, etc), your best bet would be to check out modularfords.com

wouldnt have to change out pistons or anything going with a 3v or 4v swap? just because of the way everything hits the piston n mixes...?

i'm probly gonna stick with some good 2v heads n fat cams.
290whp would be nice for next summer. haha

Murph
do the Pi head swap and a blower if u want power in a straight line.

well i guess PI heads is a winner.. haha

wont be done til winter but just figured i should get some ideas now instead of some last minute shopping.

thanx guys!

Trying to make naturally aspirated power out of a 2V 4.6 really is a waste of money. A set of 4V heads will be worth a LOT more than even ported 2V'ers, especially when supercharged. Ever wonder why the highest horsepower 2V street cars around are only making around 700 RWHP, but there are several 1000+ RWHP 4V cars? Because the 2V's flow worth donkey piss. A set of ported 4V heads will flow 120 CFM's more than a set of 2V heads comparing peak-to-peak.

I can't remember where I saw it posted, but it was somebody with a 300" stroker motor and fully ported 2V heads with twin 61mm turbos. Switching from his 2V heads to a set of unported Navi heads with FR500 cams was worth 190 RWHP at the same boost level, and that's with UNPORTED 4V heads.

yea but i dont need 700rwhp.
dont know what all needs to be done to swap in some 4v heads but its really not that big of a deal.
i'm going more for streetable horsepower.. something i can drive to and from work everyday throughout the nicer months of the year. thats why i want to keep it n/a for the time being.
swapping in some better flowing, ported 2v heads and some good cams will be plenty good enough.
