The beater isn't starting. 1991 Civic hatch. DPFI. Took the fuel line off that goes into the big black DPFI thing, no gas. Fuel pump is not priming. Can't find the stupid fuse for the thing, is there one?
The car is a wiring nightmare. THe cig lighter stopped working, but the interior light works fine. Same time that went is when it woudn't start.
I've checked every visible fuse and none are blown.
It's getting a CEL code 16. |

i think if you're throwing a code 16 it means your f-f-fuel injectors are f-f-f-fucked. but it might just be the pump? the fuel pump fuse on my prelude is under the dash, wired in with my alternator (i dont know if that will help you)... pop the fuel pump out of your civic and throw a new one in? they're $20 at pick n pull.
NOTE: 9/10 times its the MAIN RELAY for the fuel pump, which is usually located right next to the under-dash fuse box. i know at least in the older preludes, they get wet and crap out when it rains. pull yours and see if its full of water. if so, go steal a new one from pick n pull |

| I've played with the main relay, and it is the pump for sure because I pulled the fuel line and it was not getting fuel. |

ok, apparently its the same thing with Civics (not just preludes)... if you remove your main relay and its fully of water, there is a small hope you can dry it off and it'll work again, but you're probably better off to just run out to the junkyard and get a new one. it takes me about 5 minutes to do the job on my prelude, so it should be about the same for a civic
NOTE: the main relay is what powers the pump.... thats why its not pumping. |

Hmm ya 16 is injector it could be toast or clogged, crack the fuel line at the filter see if there's any built pressure there.
I suppose pulling the main injector and maybe getting another one just to try and clear the code and messing with wires too the usual wiggle and play with.
I got more if need about fuel system.

Yeah Jeff make sure you have ample gas in the tank otherwise its a bitch troubleshooting any fuel issues.
I was having the same problem...dry lines and pump wasn't engaging which made me think relay or wiring. Turned out the system just wasn't building any pressure. Granted, mine wasn't throwing any codes. |

It was actually the main relay. I swapped the one with the CRX which I thought was good, but obviously NOT! lol.
Thanks for all the help, folks! |
