| A little sparking, usually white/bluish is usually normal. Make sure your posts are tight, if not you can get the ticking sound. |

| Yeah, it sounds like you've got a little gapping action going on. Too far to not jump but not close enough to get a good flow of electricity. |

| But the ticking sounds is coming from behind the drivers seat and underneath the car kinda near the exhaust. |

| Can that cause the car not to start? |

does the engine turn over? because if it doesnt, It's either a bad starter or bad battery, wich may be caused by something wrong with the alternator or charging system. so.. If it doesnt turn over, try boosting or jumping it, if that doesnt work , it's probably the starter, bring it to part source though if you get it started and they'll test it for you for free.
edit: sorry, diddnt read that you diddnt turn it to the crank position |

I'll second STi: Check the fuel pump, I had a similar same problem on my truck.
I was hard to start and there a sound that came on and off near the back. If I drove it everyday, it was fine because the battery got recharged, but if I parked it for a long weekend, it wouldn't start monday morning.
It took me forever to find it. The pump itself was fine, but relay just off the fuse box was fried and running the pump ramdomly. I was a simple $40 part after than.
Hope that helps:thumbup: |

That sounds pretty close to my problem but what do you mean by this:
"but relay just off the fuse box was fried and running the pump ramdomly" |

A relay a electrical switch that turn on or off when it gets a signal from another source. In this case the fuel pump relay energizes the fuel pump in response to the ignition system. When the relay fails, it could stay on, stay off or just randomly turn on and off.
It's should look like a small plastic block about the size of a 9volt battery and it will have a few prongs sticking out the end.
If you suspect the relay, you'll have to find it, the relays are normally near the fuse box with all the other electrics but every car is different, check your manuals. Test it with a volt meter or take it to a decent parts store where they will test it for you, and of course, they will be happy to sell you a replacement. |
