What kind of gear does everyone have?

In terms of brands, how does joe rocket, alpinestars, icon etc rank in safety...is there a huge difference?

I plan to buy some joe rocket leather so any input to this would be nice. Thanks

Stay away from Icon imo. But Joe Roacket and Alpinestars are both pretty solid.

No Problem

HJC helmets are real good, comfortable and not overpriced.

Joe Rocket jackets are really good quality. Mine held up really well after an encounter with some pavement and is still in decent shape.

I've only owned Alpinestars gloves and I absolutely tore them to shreds, but there wasn't much to them anyways.

And I just bought an Icon vest. It looks like a quality vest but I've heard mixed reviews about Icon shit.

As stated the Icon stuff is questionable, I have heard alot of mixed reviews on it. I have Icon gloves and my GF has an Icon jacket. Both have been standing up well so far. Stay away from the Icon helmets though, I have heard nothing but bad things about them.

I have used alot of Joe Rocket and HJC gear and have had great results with it. The HJC helemts are ok but they are one of the cheaper ones out there. Since I switched to Arai helmets I wont wear anything else...so comefortable and quiet. You can get some smoking deals off ebay on new gear as well. My arai lists for $1200 to $1300 here in the city and I got it off e-bay for $475cdn shipped to my door. (Arai RX-7)

As for boots nothing beats Alpinestars, very comfortable and excellent wear. A little pricey but well worth it. They will last you a long time.

So best bet is to go around the city and try stuff on and price it out. Then when it comes time to shop ebay all the way

Heres a couple places to check out on ebay that I have dealt with and had awesome service

Wholesale motosports closeout
Flyin Brians wholesale

I have an icon jacket + gloves, they're standing up pretty good, will be 3rd season with them I think this season. I also have a Shoei helmet, very comfy for me.

agreed, search or post there and you'll have no problem finding answers to your questions.

Icon is generally regarded as being kinda crappy..

Alpinestars I've heard mixed reviews, heard some kinda scary stories about suits coming apart from some people who've crashed at stratotech.

Joe Rocket is generally pretty good, I witnessed first hand somebody crash at very high speed in a joe rocket suit and he's still wearing it to this day, it held up very well.

I've got a Teknic suit now and I'm impressed with the quality for the money, its well made.. good stitching and armour.

AGVsport makes some cheap leathers that are surprisingly good quality for the money, the don't look as nice as a lot of other brands though.

Whatever you get, make sure to try it on somewhere first, leather will bunch up and not protect as it should if its not fit properly.
After you've found what sizing you'll need, start searching through ebay for deals, I've saved a lot buying most of my gear online
