RIV change involving recall clearance. - Click HERE for Original Thread

This is no April Fools joke:

http://www.riv.ca/english/html/recall_clearance.html

quote:
Special Attention: The Registrar of Imported Vehicles makes every effort to assist the importer with importation process. Recall clearance however is the responsibility of the importer. As a result we are unable to release the Inspection Form until such time as we receive a confirmation that there are no Outstanding recalls for your vehicle.

It sounds like we need the recall letter before getting our Form 2 now.

shawley
huh wtf??

that is for vehicles newer than 15 years

15year rule exempts them

Not everyone imports old cars... I can't say my recent purchases are much newer. In my first post, I made no mention of cars over 15 years old. This almost affected me. I just got 2 federal inspections done in March. In my case, I just provided the center the recall letters. Now it sounds like you need to fax in the letter before getting your form 2.

If you had a 15+ year old car, you don't even need to worry about RIV. So obviously this wouldn't apply in that case.

But on a side note, damn I'm glad it's 2007... More Mark IV's should start appearing on the street soon. Do Japanese model years start a few months prior to the year as well?
