It involves some classroom and then 31 laps with the gokart, and it costs $100 per person. He says the quickest anyone's done 31 laps is 45 minutes, people usually take a couple hours. Karts are powered by a 4-stroke, 6.5 hp Honda engine, max speed 75 kms. Starts at 1:00. HONDA FOR LIFE BITCHES! |

If you guys could read ... ha ha ... it's 1pm on April 11. Because it's 1pm some of you people who have jobs wouldn't be able to make it. But we do have all summer long to arrange these things.
I'm trying to get a feel for how many, so I can book everyone in and let you guys know. You can then just show up with your money. So far it sounds like ...

Aight, I got dets.
You can put as much as 20 people on the track at one time, that's if everyone is comfortable. However there is a chance that they put us in two groups of 10, so half of us would have to wait for the first half to finish their laps.
So let's keep it down to 15.
They supply helmets and racing coveralls - all you have to bring is your pumas.

I just talked to them. The weather says tomorrow is sunny and 5 degrees ... in Edmonton anything can happen. They will be phoning me first thing in the morning to let me know if the track is good to go. I'll post up here when I find out.

We can reschedule now; the sooner the better. I was thinking Saturday May 12, but the only time available is 5pm. Since in E-town it can snow during the first week of May, it's safer to be later on. Their weekends always book up first so most of the days we pick on a weekend would be a 5pm time slot. We could pick any time during the week though. Does everyone have jobs?

Oh, curiosity here: How much cash to step up to the Rotax karts? I think they do about 140? Might that be worth it? |

Challenger karts are for people who want to drive at the limit. The Challenger class is composed of a racing chassis and 125 cc 2-stroke engine producing 28 hp. A Challenger can attain speeds of up to 120 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just under 6 seconds. The minimum age for this class is 16 years. | He does that for smaller groups before the track opens. I think the ideal # would be 6-10 cars for the 9a.m. - noon period. I believe the price was something like $125 or $150. |

I asked the dude if we could rent the track and bring our own cars, and he pretty much said no. He says the turns are all full of gravel. The BMW club and Dsport rent the track once in a while but I got the impression they don't *like* to do it. Maybe he tells chicks no and Chromey got a different response because he sounds all manly? :dunno:
Meh, I'd rather be in a gokart anyways. If I wanna rip up my own car there are enough twisty roads in this city. Either $100 for 31 laps/up to 2 hours on the slower karts or $130 for half an hour for a faster kart? That's a bit stupid I think. |

And it is way better to take your car to Stratotech than on the "twisty roads in this city". If you drive your car in the city to the limit you can on the track, I hope I never see you on the road. |
