Tuning:Greddy e manage vs Crome - Click HERE for Original Thread

Ryan G
i cant decide
take the route of a quality, well known greddy brand, or a cheaper way of tuning with Crome?
any suggestions or experiences?
where is the best place in edmonton to take this tuning to?
94 civic si with turbo

thanks

I can only comment on crome since I haven't had any experience with e-manage.

Crome pro is, in my opinion the best way to go, it allows you to datalog and make adjustments on the fly with the car in full operation (with the aid of an Ostrich). What you need to remember for crome is that it's an open source type program.

By saying that I mean, you are responsible to stay up to date with the plugins, there is no manual, you have to really work for your information but it is out there (pgmfi.org).

Right now crome is experiencing a hiccup in it's ignition values on the high cam (vtec) map, as it doesn't pull as much timing as it says it is. The community is working on it with the help of John Cui (the creator) but it's something to note.

Another program that seems to be getting some good hype, though it has yet to be priced or released, is eCtune (written by another member of pgmfi).

I can go into further depth on crome and it's advantages/shortcommings if you like.

ya please do
maybe messages are better?
but either way i want as much info as possible

IMHO for the cost of all the stuff you need for Crome and the hassles of burning chips it would be worthwhile to go to Neptune RTP. Just made the swap from Crome Pro to Neptune RTP on a friends car and it's awesome. The board was about 650 bucks with bluetooth and we're set. It has bluetooth wireless so you don't have to have a maze of cables connected to the ECU while you're tuning, it just sits in the glovebox and you're good to go.

Hondata.

but for tokes....would be be able to do a set up
with Crome or Neptune for me as well?

It depends on what you want to do. If you want to be able to make changes yourself, I would suggest crome or Neptune.

There is a problem with Neptune though. They just recently released RTP and before that, only certified tuners were allowed to make changes to Neptune maps. The issue with this? There is a limited amount of information on it, and those that have that information tend to call it "tuning experience". The tips and tricks they know are what keep them in business, so some may be reluctant to help out.

Hondata is your fail-safe. Everyone will tune with it, everyone wants to sell it to you, and it's pricey. It doesn't have the advantage of a community behind it that can create additions or fix bugs, but then again, it will have less bugs than a community developed software would.

Not so black and white ;)

Listen to Blane and Get Hondata S300..

You WILL NOT Regret it.

If you want to use crome.. and you want an already Chipped and converted ECU.. PM Me.. I'll sell you my burner, Data Logger, and ECU that's already chipped and whatnot For a good price..

i don't see why
an injector is an injector
they all have different impedances and lag time but that should be configuarble.

Praylewd powr
no it is in fact true with regards to the s300, but the issues are only with hot starts.
